cAMP receptors downregulation

Hi everyone,
Do you think this is possible? cAMP is involved in working memory.
Bacopa which is a cAMP inhibitor causes upregulation of those receptors so this is not a good idea.
There is forskolin which is a cAMP agonist, so technically chronic use of forskolin should boost memory through downregulation.
Also theobromine is said to be a cAMP agonist.
The CILTEP stack which includes forskolin also contains quercetin which is also a cAMP booster.
Last but not least, is there any research involving cAMP levels and memory levels? Is cAMP downregulation safe? From my research it is involved in hormone signalling and biological responses, this should not be ignored.

I really don't think universally downregulating cAMP will get you anything but problems.

Every study I have found says that EXCESSIVE cAMP signalling in the Prefrontal Cortex can lead to a reduction in working memory. This was the target of the Guancifine studies in managing ADHD, since Guancifine is somewhat selective to that region.asdfjk

What I mean is:
  • There is a u-shaped curve for cAMP signalling function. Too much or too little will cause issues.
  • The PFC is the region targeted. Lowering cAMP in other areas of the brain would cause different results.

maybe the idea is to modulate/normalize cAMP levels?

As a self-medicating society, a lot of us artificially do this everyday. We get out of bed, melatonin is still doing it's job making sure our cAMP levels are down so that we are nice and sleepy. So we drink a big ol' cup of coffee, containing caffeine, which increases cAMP.

In an ideal, healthy situation, cortisol would be high in the morning, raising our cAMP, then slowly taper off throughout the day. However, our society isn't really structured for this sort of "natural" living, so we consume mass quantities of stimulants in order to get the job done. We need energy on demand! :)

At the end of the day, we are either so exhausted from the stimulant crash that we can sleep, too restless from it that we are insomniac, or we indulge in one of the many substances that lower cAMP levels and allow us to sleep.
