Any danger to mixing an anticholinergic (e.g. Benadryl or Dramamine) with a stack containing a choline supplement?

Greetings,

I have just purchased some ingredients for my starter nootropic stack that should be at my doorstep soon. Essentially, they are the basics: piracetam, citicoline CDP Choline, and ALCAR.

However, I realized that an important part of a nootropic stack containing a racetam is the choline supplement, and there may be times I'll have to take something anticholinergic such as Benadryl (for allergies) or Dramamine (for nausea/motion sickness).

Is this a potentially dangerous combination (buildup of choline that gets released eventually), or will they cancel each other out as if I had taken neither? I've never had any bad reaction to taking Benadryl or Dramamine in the past, but I've also never attempted to take a nootropic until now. Furthermore, I know that some people do not need a choline supplement with their stack, but I purchased it just incase I do.

Any information greatly appreciated!

I'm not 100% on this but to my knowledge it isn't a good idea to do something like that. Think of it this way would you want to mix uppers and downers? No. So it's essentially the same here. Maybe look into alternatives for allergies. There's a lot out there such as Vitamin C. Here's a link to a website that will help you with alternatives to your allergies than those medications.

Hope that helps.

No. There should be no problem.

It would be however, counterproductive. Pointless is a better word.

I generally use Claritin if I need all-day relief, but in the event that I need something at night to also help me sleep (because of the sneezing and wheezing) I generally use Benadryl. Note that I don't use Claritin and Benadryl at the same time.

It would be however, counterproductive. Pointless is a better word.

Yeah, I think it would also be pointless, but unfortunately I can't know ahead of time if I am going to have bad allergies or need the Dramamine that day. Sometimes I can tell early in the day if they will be necessary, but sometimes not. I just wanted to know if there were any potential dangers mixing an anticholinergic and a nootropic stack containing a choline supplement.

I found Benadryl to be very helpful one time when I took what turned out to be way too much Alpha-GPC with way too much Piracetam and started getting involuntary twitches that were verging into seizure territory. After frantically searching online for anticholinergics and realizing Benadryl was the only thing in that category I had in the house at 2 am, I took a 25mg generic diphenhydramine tablet and the twitching and scary perceptual discontinuities faded away within about 30 minutes.

To give some background so this won't sound like pure crazy talk, I had just received the Alpha-GPC and Piracetam in the mail, and rather unwisely jumped straight to an attack dose. Unbeknownst to me at that time, having been floxed by the fluoroquinolone antibiotic Levaquin a few years before, my brain was hypersensitized, and even a fairly conservative attack dose put me over the edge. I had taken multi-gram doses of Piracetam in the past before getting wrecked by Levaquin and had a standard "music sounds better and I feel smarter" response, but after Levaquin even tiny doses of Piracetam are felt strongly. I should also be careful to point out that nobody should take Levaquin hoping to increase response to Piracetam. Levaquin is neurotoxic and left me with severe chronic pain, anxiety and brain fog for years.

Anyway, that second part is a long story that I hope to get into in some other topic, but I wanted to chime in to say that Benadryl may sometimes have a useful purpose.
