Just a suggestion, instead of Longecity or other organisations giving some of their funds to research, why don’t they pay for an advertisement in a newspaper (New York Times, or in the UK say, the Daily Mail etc). This will reach a lot of ordinary people some of whom, I am sure, will want to find out more about the subject. Perhaps there should be a central fund, where people could contribute until the money is enough for a half (or a full) page advert.

Thanks for the idea mrszeta. I would support a fund raiser for a high profile advertisement, but not as an expenditure from general funds. The reason is because we have not had a lot of luck with traditional advertisements through the years. We took out an ad in the Atlanta Journal Constitution to promote the first Imminst conference. It was not worth the cost. We paid for a month-long billboard along a busy street, but got no feedback. We did some facebook ads where we got some impressions, but no discernible increase in membership or donations. I think the most efficient advertising we have used is google Ad Sense - because that can be targeted more precisely.
Would like to hear some other opinions.

I really do think that if we were able to get members of Longecity to small events to give out leaflets and perhaps have a little stall, that would be the best advertisement until we gain greater recognition. Shame we cannot get more cohesive chapters worldwide and also within countries...or maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree.

I am not sure if you are aware that there is already a movement in this respect, via the 'Longevity Party' on facebook. It seems well supported.
