So I've been wondering if there are studies linking ambien to hormonal changes in women and men, for example - increase/excess of cortisol in both men and women, excessive androgens in females, some male hormone imbalances. Are there any studies on it beyond a maybe existent vague reference in the med leaflet itself? Anyone notice it when taking ambien or stumbled upon research on this topic.

Progesterone is considered a GABA receptor agonist, thus having withdrawal effects similar to z-drugs and benzos.
It appears that during GABA agonist withdrawal, progesterone levels are usually below normal.
How are you doing these days ? Have you started to taper off ambien and valium ?
