Machines are being designed away from expert systems and towards doing computation to derive solutions

The brain is one of many types of problem solver, which is best used in a community of brains giving tremendous processing power for solutions.

Superintelligence is expected to emerge from general technology or be specifically constricted.

If specific, if it can be made safe this gives a good safeguard against runaway intelligence which would otherwise be hard to contain.

Thanks for the post. We have been discussing this topic at Longecity for many years. I remain surprised by the amount of learned people who still think superintelligence is impossible or so far off in the future that we don't have to worry about it.

Hi Mind,

Yup. Its knowledge sets. People can understand it but have to know stuff, and that takes a while.

I dont know how long we've got A few groups some gvmt sponsored are debating it, but unless SI is constructed and held mankind wont make it.

If i had to bet I'd say humans will be extinct Posted Image
