I was just wondering how many people here are actual scientists working in fields related to life extention like biomedical gerontology, AI, robotics, etc.?
How many of you are students planning to work in a field related to life extension? what do you study? and do you plan on getting your Ph.D? and where do you plan to work after getting your degree or Ph.D or M.D.?

Oh sorry I didn't mean to offend or otherwise upset anyone with the question, so I apologize if I did. Why would you ask that by the way? If its a dumb question just let me know and I will kindly ask it to be removed. does there really have to be a reason besides Im just interested in knowing that there are actually students and scientists on here actually within the field. I mean all of my hero's are people working within the field even those no one has ever heard of. To me Dr. Aubrey de Grey is god even though Im an atheist, heh. Im really sick at the moment and was studying chemistry in college with in interest in life-span extension before I got sick and once I get better I hope to go back and earn my Ph.D. Laugh all you want guys but I can and will do it. I have a strong interest in biomedical gerontology specifically RepleniSENS, LysoSENS and AmyloSENS so I would love to work for Dr.Aubrey de Grey one day researching those areas. Thats my dream anyway. I find RepleniSENS , LysoSENS and AmyloSENS to be the most achievable the soonest. I actually would like to hear which of the seven SENS treatment schemes scientists or even students here find most promising or even just people who know a lot about Dr. Aubrey de Greys seven treatments and what they think of each of them. i think his plan is the most promising of achieving with in our lifetimes and would allow us enough time, if his regentive medical therapies turn out towork, to live indefinitely.

Plus maybe I could network with students and even scientists here someday, learn more about the best schools for biomedical gerontology ( not at the moment however because I live in severe chronic pain and also been diagnosed with "severe insomnia due to pain" by a sleep specialist here in Connecticut named Dr. Konstantinova. I am also seeing a pain management doctor Dr.Sood but even with pain management my pain still keeps me up all the time and makes living a normal life impossible amd Im currently bed-ridden because I can barely walk because of muscle atroohy, myopaphy and neuropathy in my left leg. so if my posts seem to sound stupid thats because I literally have only gotten 2 to 3 hours of sleep in the past two years and its really messed up my intelligence, focus, memory, etc. big time) I was going to University of New Haven , but Im looking for great schools with good biomedical engineering programs with an emphasis on human life-span extension if I ever get better which my doctor says may be possible but I just started seeing him and he says its going to take time until we fimd the right pain meds for me.Anyway maybe my plight has moved you and you will let me knowmif your a scientist out of sympathy for someone who lives in excruciating physical pain eveyday of his life or you could be rignt maybe it was just a dumb question to ask in the first place if it is just call me out on it and I will have the thread removed.

oops just read your profile and wikipedia link. I cant believe we have geniuses like you on here. now I feel like an ass. sorry about sounding so stupod but like I said. severe insomniaand pain can really mess up your cognitive abilities. sorry. i just find it awseome that we have scientists here. I have never heard of you , whivh is suprising bevause of how popular you are, until now but now Im about to buy your books from amazon.com just because I made myself look very stupid in front of another anti-aging god.yeah your a doctor so i got rhandomyolysis a few years ago and my kidneys failed from it and was put on dialysis for two months. i now still have severe chronic pain from it. i have bad muscle arophy, myopathy and neuropathic pain in my left leg and the right sidebof my face were the cathetor for the dialysis was pit in my neck. i sleep very little from the pain. i have been on gabapentin, lyrica, codeine, vicodin and I am now on percocet and pamelor. which barely helps but its beyter then nothing. im going in for my second epidural for my left leg and foot in a week. sorry if i sounded like a jerk and got on the wrong foot with you. you are my master, i will do anything you say Doctor. literally, anything.

The question was literal. What is your reason for asking (you want to do research, you want to find suitable gerontologists to work with, you are compiling a list of researchers for a project or studying the percentage of PhD who have graduated etc). But you answered it OK. I am sorry to hear about your condition but many people here have experience and advice to give you. Unfortunately, it is against the ethics of medicine to give personal advice without seeing the patient first.

oh i understand. i guess my reason for asking is yes I want to do research, to help extend human life-span and I suppose i want to know how many people here are in the same boat as me.

I am not working for directly to "extend human life-span" but I am working with some of the aging changes (the aging changes of the face and the mouth to be more exact), even though they are not very important for the human lifespan (excluding the cancer of the skin of the face and the mouth). So, I am not sure if You will want to add me in Your list.

The people here a definatelly "in the same boat" as You.

Unfortunatelly the majority here are not scientists. Several people tried to collect all of the scientis here in a list, so some sort of "collective idea and collective work over some topic" to be made, so far not effective, but I wish You a good luck.

Biomedical gerontology is a nice option to research aging.
