How old are you? Don't do it if you are under 40. Shit kinda screwed me and I am in my 20s. I was in a deeply depressed haze for a week. The haze continues, the depression lightened after the week to baseline. Haze has worsened and I will attribute 10% to donepezil.
FYI My dosage was 2.5mg first time, and a 5mg couple of days after that.
Acetylcholinesterase Inhibitors (damn! i remember that correctly!) are definately not for the younger population.

I am in my 20s.
2.5mg felt quite stimulating although I didn't notice an increase in memory or cognition. I should add that I am generally fine with my cognitive abilities with the exception of my memory. The stimulation lead to an increase in focus which is pretty much what I am looking for as Methylphenidate severely screws up my cognition after taking it for a short period of time.
I have read positive reviews of Donepezil from people well below 40; and Galantamine which is an acetylcholesterase inhibitor (among other things) as well is not uncommon as a nootropic. Why should Donepezil be a problem for people under 40?

Acetylcholesterase inhibitors are to my understanding, not the preferred mothod of sustaining choline levles in the brain of a young individual because the production levels of choline have not been hindered by the effects of ageing. Given the added amounts of source material, the brain can add to the levels of choline even as choline disintergrates at regular levels. In an older brain, choline production will be less efficient and will disintergrate faster and hence acetylcholesterase inhibitors are suitable such that the levels of choline are above baseline and stay that way for longer periods of time. The age 40 is just a generic number that I chose as an estimate for an average (not tinkered with) aged brain. If you can certainly rule out placebo then you can use it for its active effects, but given that there are other methods to increase choline levels, should you opt for this one? Huperzine A, an acetylcholesterase inhibitor, has been deemed unsuitable for younger individuals before as I have read. Galantamine without its alleged dream enhancing capability seems just as unnecessary. I have tried neither. I will however cite my suspicion that beneficial reports of Huperzine A and Galantamine have been made more by older individuals than younger ones.
On the other hand, CDP Choline, with its dopamine receptor condensation perk, seems to be a better option.
