I've recently found out that I'm triple heterozygous for mutations in MTFR genes: C677T, 03 P39P, and A1298C. I have trouble converting folate to the active methylfolate and converting homocystein to methionine. It apparently lowers glutathione levels as well . I know that I should obviously supplement with L-methylfolate but am looking for any further advice on what to do. Would methyl blue help? NAC?
I'm also homozygous for defective genes on SOD2 A16V, which means I'm not good at producing superoxide dismutase. I take C-60oo. Any further advice?
I haven't had any symptoms of oxidative stress that I'm aware of but I do have a family history of cleft lips and palates, autism, and I started getting grey hair in my mid-twenties. Both my maternal granparents died young. One of cancer, the other of alcoholism.
This is very depressing news. Any advice or experience will be greatly appreciated!
