A move towards global consumer protection or an attack on US anti-aging supplements?

What do you think?

BBC NEWS | Health | EU health foods crackdown 'wrong'

European Court of Justice Advocate General Leendert Geelhoed said the EU health foods directive infringed guidelines in his opinion.

It would be a sad day if this ordeal went thru.

Didn't a european judge invalidate that, or suggest that it was illegal or whatever the appropriate terminology is?

I would suggest everyone explore the above posted websites, especially IAHF. I am not advocating Jon Hammel's cause, but I think he provides some good info. amidst all of his conspiracy theories (these may or may not have any merit).

The main course of action IAHF recommends is to block passage of CAFTA and FTAA to prevent harmonization of US supp. laws to those emerging in Europe. I personally have not taken the time to decide whether this is an appropriate course of action in a broader sense, and in looking outside of the supplement issue. I think it may be appropriate to hold such a debate in the politics forum.
