on the subject of aniracetam, how long does the anxiolytic effect last between doses? it's much shorter acting than piracetam isn't it? like pira is something like 5 hours, ani 3 or so?
A quick search is telling me the aniracetam half-life is between 1-2.5 hrs. This is not very precise and there may be better answers elsewhere, but yes it does seem much shorter than piracetam's ~5 hr half-life.
If I remember correctly, aniracetam itself has a very short half life, but its metabolites have the most anxiolytic effect, and they have a longer half life (4-5hrs, I think, but I can't remember exactly)
I disagree that they are barely above vitamins. then again, everyones experience with these things is different, as are they and their brains, and from what I know people with problems tend to experience benefits a lot more than normal healthy people simply looking for a study aid or something, so there's that to consider aswell.
on the subject of aniracetam, how long does the anxiolytic effect last between doses? it's much shorter acting than piracetam isn't it? like pira is something like 5 hours, ani 3 or so? that could be expensive and also annoying to take so much a day and so often, anyone that has used it for that got anything to say?
I think I came across a bit too negative on nootropics. They are certainly better than vitamins, but they are somewhere between vitamins and things like ritalin/benzos/alcohol. They certainly make a difference, but it isn't a profound shift in state. They can slowly make you more happy/less depressed and increase memory, but they aren't the adderall of memory or anything like that. You can't take piracetam and have photographic memory in the way that you can take amphetamine and have laser concentration.
I am actually starting to think that they may be somewere around the same level as things like bupropion. I don't know, I only have the one drug to sample from, but it is certainly no stronger than a nootropic. I do think that racetams should be used more for depression, esp dysthymia.
