I have been experimenting with some Aniracetam over the last few days. Initially it just made me tired, I guess I could feel the beginnings of some sort of beneficial effect but honestly I cannot rule out placebo so far. I'm on my second day now and my 4th dose and finally I feel like I can sort of appreciate the effects.
I seem to respond well to Piracetam anyway but the main reason I wanted to try Aniracetam was for its purported anxiolytic and social benefits. I have read before that some drowsiness is common but will usually subside following repeated dosing. So my question is how long exactly does this usually take?
Now in fact the drowsiness is much less pronounced although I would hesitate to completely rule it out yet.
I would also be interested to hear about Aniracetam's duration of action - from what I understand the half life of Ani is much shorter than the other racetams, yet it's actual effects are (supposedly) not equivalently short in duration. I have read some things that seem to suggest this is due to the activity of the metabolites which persist beyond this short half life.
I'm not expecting anyone to give me a clear and lucid breakdown of what exactly is going on from a neurological perspective but would appreciate any anecdotal reports of the duration of action. I don't feel I can really judge from my own experience just yet.
As usual I have been someone unscientific in my experimentation and have blended some things together but it was on my 4th dose overall (2nd dose today) of probably around 1g of Ani, 4 hours after a smaller dose of maybe 500mg (from which I experienced only really drowsiness and brain fog) when I finally felt like I felt something good from this chemical. I dosed relatively quickly after my initial dose partly out of frustration and partly thinking perhaps some attack dose was necessary - I began experimentation with this after a week long break from all nootropics so that may also have played a part... in any case this final paragraph is not really any definite question, but any comments at all on your own experiences with Aniracetam and how they relate to mine are welcome nonetheless.
Thanks for reading.
