Greetings,

Longcity is an outstanding forum, it's really great that people can ask questions, talk, etc.
Its one of the leading forums in its category and has great admins and clever moderators. Its awesome to see a forum with moderators that don't lock and mess up the forum based on their opinions, they go with the members too which is great!

Anyway, I am willing to purchase a theme for the forum if the admin and members would like:
http://www.ipbforums...remade_ipb3.php

Outcomes from the forum theme:
- It would increase members activity.
[+] Member online time
[+] Member posts & topics in a HQ fashion.
[+] Member overall more happy with the forum.

- Increase new member sign-ups.
- Make the forum look nicer.

Others:
- Easy to add the theme.
- Theme does not have to be default, it can be an option for members.
- Theme is FREE as i'm paying. and any theme.
- Company admin is extremely nice and gives 100% support to the admin for making any css, html updates, changes, etc.
- Theme is updated with every IPB update but is not needed.
- Overall happier admins, mods and members. Also makes guests register because the theme with the forum will look so epic.

Which one looks the best?.
Remember, you can click the theme and then hover over the image and it gives you a demo.

Waiting for your reply and actions.
Thank You.

White and blue are the 2 colours that are the least conducive to eye longevity.
A black background with red is probably the best for ones eyes and as a black background requires no power it is also the greenest.

See this site for an idea of what I mean:
http://www.hardocp.com/

Now that is a lot easier on the eyes and environment IMHO.

That is a really kind offer Locic - unfortunately keeping track of skin changes and ensuring cross-skin compatibility is a lot of work so we can only focus on the standard and the mobile skin at the moment.

Logic makes a very good point (Logic isn't the one who made the offer btw). Reading on a white background is a real strain on the eyes, particularly late at night.

Tim11 made the offer Caliban. :)

It would be quite easy to change the universal colour scheme to on similar to the one I linked though, would it not?

Thanks tim11 (sorry for the mis-ID earlier)

We will not be implementing alternative skins at the current time. The skin has individualised modifications that we cannot replicate across a multitude. Non-standart skins often integrate poorly with ad-ons and upgrades of the software. Some presentations are attuned to specific CSS elements and features. Also, LongeCity has a specific 'brand' that we are not willing to confuse. Light on dark text suggested above, as desirable it may seem to some, is a good example of an absolute 'no-no' for a site that discusses serious science, health and mortality.
Changes to the standard and mobile skin are actively being developed and some of them are driven by necessity and others will be inspired by what designers have done elsewhere, but look and feel are emotive issues and we can never please everybody.

Are you saying that people with the mental capability to write and discuss scientific papers are incapable of seeing the advantages of white text on a black background and incapable of then taking the site seriously because they are incapable of accepting change!?

I think you may just have insulted everyone on this forum who has had eyestrain from reading it and don't believe that you have even taken the trouble to get the opinion of others!?

I suggest putting this to a vote!

Hey,

If a purchase is made for this theme, and all the users would like the theme (even as an option to change it), then can we go for it?, please?/

If you don't mind I would recommend f.lux - "...it makes the color of your computer's display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day..." -> http://justgetflux.com/
