I was diagnosed with lactose intolerance about 8 yrs ago in my teenage years. I was told that if I take a 6 week lactose free diet, then after it I could take little amounts of lactose and increase it gradually to a point where I experience no symptoms.

She mentioned something about an enzyme, which this 6 week lactose free diet would have an effect on.

My question is:
Am I not allowed to take ANY lactose during this 6 weeks?

I am taking multivitamin (orange triad), vitamin C, magnesium, zinc and omega 3. I am not able to afford lactose free vitamins/minerals. I was wondering, if this little amount of lactose in these supplements could harm this 6 week diet if taken.

And how about, whey protein powders? Am I pushing it then? Because in this case I would be able to switch temporarily to pea protein powders.

Please let me know any knowledge you have about this diet. Thanks.
