Pyritinol and Modafinil can help.

PS 300-500 mg, DHEA 50 mg, and Theanine can also help.

Have any health issues and your age?

Modafinil is banned by the USADA and DHEA, just by it being a hormone is questionable. The others are probably cool.

Of course, if you're not being piss tested (NCAA div. I, II, olympic squad), just disregard everything I just said.

While is a considered a stimulant, it resensitizes receptors in the brain.

Perhaps in very high does (over 100 mg) taken every day but this is easy to prevent by keeping your blood level below 560 and taking only 25-50 mg.

Right before an intensive workout.

Does Adrafinil have this effect as well? In either case (mona or adra) do you have any links that support this as I find that claim VERY interesting.

Thank you for your time.

Where did you hear that? i don't think it's a "healthy" drug to use daily nor do i consider it a nootropic.

I don't have any desire to try modafinil, for one.

This has been my experience with those who had been on SSRI's and other drugs for years. After taking it for 3-6 months most saw an improvement.

Hi LifeMirage. Can I conclude from what you said above, regarding SSRIs and modafinil, that long term SSRI use can lead to desensitised receptors resulting in descreasing effectiveness of the antidepressants and the likelihood that, following termination of the treatment, the depression will return?

One of my biggest goals at the moment is to come off SSRIs for good - I've been taking them for the past 8 years, on and off, first paroxetine (Paxil) and then escitalopram (Lexapro) - they're certainly effective but they do seem to taper off, and they definitely don't help with my lack of energy during the day.

Do you think that modafinil could possibly be a worthwhile option for me to look into? Any other pointers for reversing any adverse effects from long term SSRI use, and staving off the blues? I'd be really grateful for any advice ;)

Jerome

P.S. Cripes, I've just noticed the price of modafinil - that would be £50 a month (from QHI) which is pretty steep. Could adrafinil be a viable alternative, or would that be a false economy?

I can see that people REPLACING SSRI's with monafinil can show mental improvements. That i can believe because SSRI's are bad news in the long run IMPO. However, normal healthy adults that don't need monafinil for any health conditions should not be taking it daily as a nootropic as i've heard many bad feedbacks about declining mental functions over the same amount of time you've posted.

SSRI's are bad new period.

People who gave you feedback probably took other drugs with it or did not adjust the dose right. Studies show it safe and effective when used properly.
