So I've been taking Ubiquinol for about a year, but lately been wondering whether or not, it's in fact, a good idea.

Since it's metabolized in vivo, by supplementing maybe we're telling the body: "ok you can slack off the production now" and accelerate the decrease in production.

I have no idea if this hypothesis has merit, but it would sure be nice to be able to quantify both scenarios.

Hence one way to do this, would be through a test, so we could compare levels over time, and against reference range.

However, I did some googling and came up short.

Spectracell http://www.spectracell.com/ is more accurate than serum testing for most nutritional factors.

If you have insurance and a willing doctor, you can use regular labs for testing too. My doc tested my levels several times years ago ... it may depend on the person, and brand used, but on average, ubiquinol was around a 2.5x greater absorption level than ubiquinone. If you compare ubiquinol to a high absorption ubiquinone (limonene, etc), it may differ a bit, however.

If you want to do test the scenario you outlined, just make sure to leave enough of a wash out period before and after supplementing.
