So over the past few months I've been having some muscle spasms in my eye. I have had no increased stress in my life at all and I haven't changed my regimen of one cup a tea a day. I went to college for 4 years until may 2013 and never had a single eye twitch then....then, I was using Piracetam piracetam pretty much 24/7 in my last 3 years of college. I do remember having an OCCASIONAL eye twitch when I was in elementary/high school, but recently I've been having a twitching left eyelid on and off since about October last year. Now, from what I understand eye twitching can be caused by neurological damage...which piracetam certainly shouldn't be doing. I'd like to rule out the piracetam. The twitching started,

4-5 months after I started using occasional noopept
3-4 months after I started drinking kava kava once or twice a week
2-3 months after I started using phenibut once a week

Oddly, I took a break from noopept for a long time already wondering if thats what caused it. Then I took noopept a month later---and my eye twitching disappeared for a few weeks. Now its back again, I took noopept again and it didn't fix my eye twitch this time.

All said, do you guys think any of my nootropic/supplements could be causing this eye twitch? And alternatively, do you guys know any supplements that have helped with eyelid muscle spasms? Despite being a muscle relaxant, my eyelids have still twitched after drinking kava so that hasn't worked...

I've had similar symptoms for 34 years. No specific cause or diagnosis was found. At worst they were an annoyance, and by now they have virtually disappeared. They are not necessarily a sign of something serious, but I suggest you consult a neurologist in case there is something that needs attention.

It's a sign of minor nerve malfunction, and sometimes there is an autoimmune component to this. That doesn't implicate a serious disease -- it could be a milder source of chronic inflammation. Allergy is one thing to think about. If you have seasonal or food allergies, you might consider treatment for them (immunotherapy, possibly sub-lingual) to see if that helps the nerve condition. Are there other symptoms / signs of inflammation?

There are a number of supplements which may help with inflammation, if that is a source of the problem. Quercetin

and resveratrol

http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/17289084

may have some benefit in cases of peripheral neuropathy.

My left eyelid and maybe other eye muscles were twitching not too long ago. It was randomly happening for a week or so, so I stopped drinking coffee. No eye twitches have occured since I quit coffee (1-3 cups per day).

I've had eye twitches from iodine, noopept and dexedrine (all taken separate from one another at different times.)

Hmm. I will drop noopept for sure since at least one other person has gotten eye twitching from it.

I started using Piracetam again (I have been on a long break) and after just 2 days of it my eye twitching has become minimal. Now that I think about it, my eyelid would twitch every now and then back when I was in high school, but I don't remember it happening ever in college--and I was using piracetam for pretty much 4 years straight in college. I will post back in a few days to see if the piracetam is really preventing the eyelid twitching.

When does the twitching happen? Daily?

Does it seem to happen randomly or is it, for example, a day after you take something or a day during when you take it?

Like i could see phenibut doing it for sure as your body rebounds perhaps

and definitely saw it coming from noopept too

not sure about the kava. though since it's dopaminergic it's possible. but you only use these things once or twice a week.
