Hi Namingway, that sounds fine. I believe you are in. Check to see that the FAH client is started and folding. It normally downloads a work unit soon after it is started. There are ways to determine if it is engaged, but likely it is. You will be able to monitor progress, probably percentage complete or something like that. Sorry about lack of specifics, but you are probably using the Windows Graphics version and I am not too familiar with the Graphics client. Maybe others can chime in and help out.I've downloaded the F@H client and entered my username (Namingway) and the team number, 32461. Is there anything else I need to do?
If you have any specific questions or concerns, post here. Several contributors are here at ImmInst.
It may take a couple of days, or so, to complete the first work unit (depending on your computer and the work unit you have been assigned). When your first work unit is complete, then your name and points award will show up on the F@H Stats sites listed in the previous posts.
Thanks

Getting close to the 200 mark there. I need to get back to figuring out what I'm going to hand out to team members for hitting that milestone...
Not a bad idea. You'd think that adding 0.000000001 seconds per work unit to your lifespan would be a good enough motivator but if we could find a way to incent more people to contribute, all the better. What would be neat is if we could pool some cash and divide it amongst the top x individual contributors for the team. It might create of flood of money grubbing non-immortalists but it could also cause us to shoot up in the rankings thus generating even more exposure.

The Longevity Meme Folding@Home team has been steadily rising through the ranks since its inception, thanks to the volunteer efforts of the many team members. The team is closing in on rank 200, a point that has been marked as a milestone for while. The lower ranks are a tough slog, but the team has been doing well - growing and producing results.
I have decided that the best thing to do to mark the passage of rank 200, rather than send out another round of Longevity Meme tchotchkes, is to donate a chunk of change to the Methuselah Foundation, where it can be put to good use in advancing longevity science. Here is my incentive for the team: pass rank 200, and stay beneath that level for a week, and I'll donate $1000 in support of Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence (SENS) research carried out by the Foundation.
You might look at the recent progress report from the Methuselah Foundation for a detailed look at how research funding is spent, and what progress has been made to date.
Comments are welcome.

Fantastic! Thank you Reason.
This is another very good motive for harnessing our computers to work on something that will help us to reach our goals.
The F@H goals are very admirable and I think they are well aligned with ImmInst member’s personal goals. Additionally, here is a contribution to what is a most important movement in human history.
Reaching Rank 200 and beyond, it really is a challenge. It will very likely require more computer horsepower than the team currently has available. Here's hoping for an influx of Folders and some of our previously dedicated Folders to return to help speed the progress. Compared to some of our goals, this should be a breeze.
Let's Fold!

Around 6AM today (maybe before) The Longevity Meme team passed the long awaited "200 mark" to hit Rank 199. That has been a goal since June 1, 2006. The team is now closing in on the Rank requirements set by Reason on December 18, 2007 (for a $1,000 contribution to the SENS Research). As I understand it, the team rank must remain below 200 for at least one week to satisfy the contribution rules.
Looks like The Longevity Meme team (TLM) has a good shot at making this goal by this time next week.
Below is a graphic showing TLM status with Conquests & Threats taken from todays Extreme Overclocking Stats site:
According to the predictions in the chart, only one team, www.HEXUS.net, will pass TLM in 1.9 weeks, but during this time TLM will pass four other teams. So, if the TLM team doesn't falter and if the other teams do not get a burst of processing power, then in about a week the TLM team will have realized the current goal.

Here's how it appeared to happen:
Seems that TLM had passed Intermezzo just before first making rank 199 earlier this week. Since Intermezzo was averaging less points-per day (PPD) than TLM, then after they were passed, Intermezzo didn't even show in the Threats & Conquests charts (shown in the previous post). But somehow, Intermezzo came on with a burst of ~32,000 points in a single day and placed itself a few ranks ahead of TLM, thus pushing TLM back into the rank 200 position.
Shown in the Graphic is Intermezzo's PPD history. Note the large spike in PPD (~32,000) that occurred at the end of the day on Feb 5.
Also contributing to the scenario, TLM's PPD shows a slight declining trend lately, although this may be normal variation due to work unit assignments and timing.
In the graphic below, today's Conquests & Threats predictions for TLM, it looks like the team is back on track to realize the current goal of remining below rank 200 in approximately a week.
