I watched a video where a neurology professor talked about the serotonergic system.

He explained how aminos compete with each other and if you eat a high sugar meal then all aminos go into the muscles and this way

tryptophan can get into the brain. He basically made it sound as if this instantly raises serotonine. I am sceptical of that.

Does it really work instantly? I mean if this was the case and if a person for example drank a high protein whey shake and then followed it with a

bottle of coke then wouldn't this mean that this way he can get all the tryptophan from the whey shake into the brain and this way raise serotonine

dramatically? And if this would really work then should there not be warnings that people on ssri must NOT eat high protein meals and then follow them

with high carb meals or drinks? This really confused me.
