Hi all. Long time semi successful memantine user (see my reply on post below). Also long time semi successful magnesium user, for sleep general well being, etc.

Recently read a few things online, perhaps on this board or drugs forum, that there MAY be an interaction between these agents. A number of oubmed articles come up, and I'm familiar with the general thinking that namenda seems to act like an "artificial magnesium" with different kinetics. Namenda typically has varying but important effects for me, I am bp2 with substantial dopamine ADHD social anxiety sleep and sometimes compulsive issues.

I also tend to have a difficult sense for my own response to adding or removing agents. I believe I could try stopping adjunctive magnesium for a bit but would be unsure if the effect would be due to thst or other life issues, or medication supplement changes, so hoping for some theoretical guidance before I consider.

Is 21mg namenda plus say 400-600 mg magnesium counter indicated? Would they typically be expected to have additive effects or antagonistic effects. I tend to feel sustained slight disassociation from namenda , but in part it is a therapeutic feeling. Easier to deal with stress anxiety traffic social but also feel separate from the world and in my head a lot -- significant "chatter" and am often by myself, thinking thinking thinking. I suspect this is a memantine effect. Problem is when I lower dose to 14mg, compulsive behaviors increase....my first trial of namenda obliterated substantial compulsive behaviors, improved sleep deprivation effects, and dramatically cleared up my thinking. But whether to stay on it long term especially with magnesium, I'm unclear.

I take nardil, guanfacine, Antabuse , namenda and a host of supplements.
Thanks
