Help out.jpg

We have all, on numerous occasion seen people come to LongeCity and offer their praise to our community for helping them deal with important health issues, improve their lifestyles, and find that perfect cognitive or emotional enhancer that leads them into a new and improved life. Some have seen doctors for years, others come looking to get connected to high performing clinical trial drugs, and some find that they just needed to change some behavior and understand some new things. But many have come, and I think we do a pretty awesome job of changing people's lives and showing them the way to better health/lifestyles/mindsets. and giving them a new lease on the future.

So I'm doing a testimonial commercial series and would like your input. Here are some suggestions:

  • LongeCity helped me...
  • I go to LongeCity for/because...
  • I support LongeCity because...
  • I was having problems with x before finding LongeCity and they helped connect me to bleeding/leading edge medical advice...
  • My job performance has...
  • My relationships have...
  • My career...
  • I found...
  • LongeCity helped me find a new level of personal development in...
  • LongeCity is the best site for...

Don't forget, if you'd like to change your username or have us credit you using an alias or as an anonymous user for personal reasons, we can make such accommodations. We can even change your name history if necessary. Just contact me and we'll take care of it.

Follow this topic to find out when I make the videos available and be the first to share them.

I plan to share the video on youtube.

Your testimonial may be edited for grammar or to shortened to fit on screen (with your approval of course).

I used to go to doctors and expect them to fix me. After trying that for 10 years and still feeling awful I realised that wasn't working so I decided I need to put my health in my own hands and look for my own solutions to my problems. I stumbled onto Longecity and did a lot of reading. Thanks to the likeminded people and all the amassed knowledge here at LC on medications, nootropics, supplements, and lifestyle changes I feel better than I have in a longe while.

To fit it on screen, how about we say it like this:

"After 10 years of conventional treatment, I took my health into my own hands with LongeCity and have made significant progress towards a better life."

I found Longecity to be a great resource to collect others' experiences on the compounds I am considering to take. I find it useful to read up on potential side effects, benefits of the nootropic drug, etc.

Feel free to change the wording however you'd like, within reason of course.

Ok, I'll phrase is as:

"LongeCity is a great resource for finding user reviews of cutting edge medicine and human enhancement compounds."

The LongeCity community is a vibrant mix of people from the pioneering experimenters, naturalists and science rationalists - all in an active dialogue - the best information is always a result of this kind of interchange, giving you more directions to help make up your own ideas.

I used bad english but I was trying to capture the fact that we see all way from people taking new stuff that is bleeding edge science, to fans of natural methods which I see as pretty much the diametric opposite.. But what you wrote is totally fine.. its a clearer idea.

As a medical student with profound interest in science, health & longevity, nutrition and bodybuilding, LongeCity is the best place I could imagine. A community filled with bright members, ranging from self-educated, interested people to first-row researchers, all with extensive knowledge of the subjects and scientifically correct. LongeCity is definitely my go-to place if I have questions or just look for information. Since being on LongeCity, I have learned a lot and I am eager to keep on learning and helping others the same way members have helped me!

A bit long, how about:

"As a Med student with a profound interest in science, healthy longevity, nutrition, and bodybuilding the LongeCity community and mission has inspired and educated me with its brilliant and extensive userbase. I'm eager to continue learning and sharing in the things to come."

Might still need some work, but I think I'll be able to fit it or split dissolve from the first half to the second.

Sorry, I wasn't sure about the length, I'll try to rephrase your piece a bit:

If we heavily rewrite every testimonial, then they are fake testimonials.  I think a lot of people would see through that.

Quote

YOLF's Photo YOLF 05 Aug 2014

We have to keep them to something we can fit on the screen and that can be read easily in 5-7 seconds or less. Editing to make them concise for video is a common practice. As long as the writer approves of the testimonial, it's fine. We can however add a disclaimer and link (using a QRCode) to a page here with the complete and original testimonials (only edited for grammar) and then link to this thread to see the conversation.

The disclaimer would say something like "The following testimonials have been abbreviated for clarity and to fit your screen and have been approved by their writers. See the full testimonials at www.LongeCity.Org"

How about this:

Long version and then a one line short version.

I would be very interested reading the long versions.

Quote

YOLF's Photo YOLF 08 Aug 2014

I'm not sure how that would be better... Successful writers use a particular concise language art that's meant to be an eloquent "quote bait." There is limited attention when reading from video and the testimonials aren't being written by screenwriters or even native English speakers in some cases. It's understandable in the long form, but may require a second or third read to understand fully. Plus, it will be dispersed globally and read by people in their second or worse language.

Like I said though, I'll include links to grammatically corrected originals and only use paraphrased testimonials for the video which are approved by the writer. That's pretty standard for this kind of thing and people deserve and expect clear wording. It respects the time they take to read it.

I have just joined LongeCity just a couple days ago, and I have already learned so much (I already knew so much, didn't think there was much more to learn).

To my surprise, and I see a lot of different viewpoints and input here that has already captivated my interest. I have always been into anti-aging sups, and am fascinated with herbology and pharmacology. I believe firmly, I will enjoy my stay here and will update and / or write a second testimonial when other significant changes hit.

So far, this is the most interesting and diverse forum I've seen; with a lot of open-minded people.

Thanks LC.

Looks good, though it's a little long. I'll just sample it as:

"...So far, this is the most interesting and diverse forum I've seen; with a lot of open-minded people.

If possible, I'll add a link to the video and see if we can make a Testimonials specific page with uncut/unedited versions.

I've only joined recently, but my experience has been great.  The Longecity forum has an amazing culture.  The members are some of the brightest people.  Everyone is there to help each other.  There are no egos, only support.

Longecity for me is a community of like minded people with a passion for health and curiosity. I have been misdiagnosed with false negative for cancer and a false positive. I have had a serious mental health issue that was undiagnosed my whole life due to sexism and winded me up in the ER. I had ptsd from hospital negligence. I have spent years online researching with undiagnosed adhd finding ways to make me feel normal.

Longecity feels like my final stop to learn and give back to a sharing and non judgmental community.

Longecity was great.

After the terrible web site redesign, other poor technical decisions (bloated rating system), and the stupid name change (lounge-a-city?) people have left it and the quality of the conversation has declined. It did used to be great though.

I support Longecity because I'd like to slow, stop, and reverse the disease of aging. Eventually clinical interventions will develop to help us end our suffering and extend our lifespans. Meanwhile, I've found no other online forum community that is as focused, vibrant, and informative as Longecity.

I started supporting Longecity because I liked the idea of people living longer disease free. I did not experiment with anything at that time. Now with a brain that seems to be aging much faster than my body I support longecity because I wish to find something that can reverse neurodegeneration. I am still here thanks to people that I have met here. Perhaps I would be long gone otherwise. I have taken many things suggested here. Maybe they have helped me last a little longer for that I am grateful. Longecity is a great site for anyone who wants to extend their life for any time at all. I believe that death is wrong and should be abolished completely. Thanks for working towards this idea and keeping the idea alive for in so doing you may save many human lives

I support Longecity because I believe that human suffering should be alleviated wherever possible and this is one community dedicated to just that. I support Longecity because I want to be part of a community that is actively supporting and seeking advances in research to defeat the biggest killer and cause of human suffering of them all - ageing. I have felt since a young child that the time limit imposed on us by nature is wrong, unfair and disadvantages people in an unrelentingly savage and brutal way. Ageing is a disgusting thief stripping opportunity, dignity and the chance to experience so many amazing things that existence has to offer and will offer in coming years.

I like that Longecity both informs me of scientific initiatives against the scourge of ageing and also gives me the opportunity to donate to support this vital work. Not everyone is a scientist nor a highly academic person yet Longecity offers a simple, welcoming platform for everyone regardless of ability or education to play their role in curing the cruellest disease that affects every living person, both directly and indirectly. There are organisations like SENS and publications such as Death is Wrong but many people will not be able to contribute in such ground breaking ways yet really wish to do something, however small.  Many droplets of water cause a flood and I like that we can all be those drops of rain hammering against and eroding ageing until its inevitable collapse.

This community is both friendly and active - it is an honour to be a part of something so important and still inclusive of all abilities and levels of education. I feel that this organisation encourages action but does not try to coerce the members into action forcefully. I have a very busy life and I appreciate that I am allowed to do as much as I can and never get pushed and told that it isn't enough.  I have come across life extension campaigns that are a bit on the extreme side and expect people to become monks and nuns for the cause, devoting every last second and making massive sacrifices in their personal lives. I find this very discouraging and I am so glad that Longecity does not fall into that bracket. I really love visiting Longecity and it is encouraging and inspires hope to see the fundraisers grow and see what different scientists are trying to accomplish in pursuit of saving millions of lives and changing the world for the better.

I’ve been on forums for around 15 years and so far nothing has come close to Longecity. Some of the most valuable knowledge and most educated people I’ve ever seen are here on this forum. People who make doctors look like they never even went to medical school. I am extremely grateful to be on this forum and have learned a vast array of knowledge and love to help others when I can.
