Pshyocopathic people have less fear. Quick reflexes. Less emotions so dont cry over death of loved ones. Etc. Young people under 18 and old people like over 70 seem to have the best mentality mind

A good friend of mine is amazing in her field of work, I can't but think that it has to do with her bipolar (and I'm wagering schizoaffective) disorder, which is bad enough to have gotten her hospitalized.

Seasonal depression, and depression as a whole, has it's function and I'm convinced that it's a sensible socio-psychological mechanism in a way.

I can prove mental illness is all made up by the person is because with age it goes away or decreases a lot therefore it is all something the person has made up without maybe even realizing it. Even if there is a gene like MAO-A/B mutation I have it and yet I am not angry. So I only believe there could be genes that make a person more prone to it but ultimately it is on the person own thoughts.

Generally speaking, psychiatric disorders don't have any intrinsic benefits and are just disabilities. Autism is mostly caused by by brain damage and whether or not depression is e.g. caused by mercury toxicity, an overall crippling effect with no upsides is pretty much the same.

What I find interesting though is that people who are pariahs often tend to contribute a lot to society from a quiet corner. Be that transgendere people or autistic people or depressive people. But it is not as if they do this because their intellects are superior or anything like that. It is just that their lives are very difficuly and messed up, no one accepts them, and this sad environment can breed a certain kind of fixation on what others would consider to be very hard labor.

For other disorders, if you can't work 8 hours a day, maybe you can only work 3 hours at random 2 times a week. So you could never do a full time jo, but only charity work instead or help your neighbors for free. Again having a disadvantage might look beneficial from this small angle.

All mwntal disorders are coping strategies of the human psyche, so disregarding long-term downsides or underlying causes such as environmental toxins or chronic stress exposure, there certainly are lots of arguments to be made how e.g. having PTSD is "beneficial" to avert persistent threats, or psychotic tendencies allow you to transcend a stagnant mindset and think outside of the box in an existential way.

However with mental disorders it is so that there almost always is an underlying problem, that provokes your mind to have to cope with anything in the first place, like for example brain degeneation for certain schizophrenics. And over time it simply runs you down trying to cope with an impossible thing over and over.

So really, there are no "hidden benefits" to mental illness, other than maybe a discount on public transport, food stamps and wasting your time, because you are not functional enough to do anything productive.
