Hi all.. Does anyone know if CI's recent virtification of a dog was head only - or entire body preservation? Thanks for your help..

Head only to the best of my knowledge, which is to say that although the whole body was cooled, only the head was perfused with cryoprotectant.

I have to slightly correct myself. The ascending aorta was used for perfusion (the descending aorta clamped), so both the head and upper body were perfused. The perfusion was open circuit, which is to say that venous drainage went straight to waste with no recirculation. Whether tissue concentrations could build to vitrifiable concentrations under such circumstances is questionable.

I have no idea how much this costs. Contact CI.
