Here is my opinion.

Dear Shepard, you tell everyone here:

Anyone want to give opinions on my regimen?

So I will accept your invitation and give you the same message as I gave Hallucinogen, I think, which you will find useful as coming from another direction, not reinforcing your devotion to supplements, but volunteering a word of self-restraint.

Workouts, and concentrated nutrients and drinks?

I was mainly wondering whether I should take Dextrose right after a good workout, and if so - how much would you recommend?

I currently take:

etc. etc. etc.
-----------------

If I may, are you, Hallucinogen, doing your regular workout for exercise because exercise is good for your health, or for reducing because you are overweight, and being overweight is unhealthy for living a good long life?

If you are healthy and within the normal range of weights for your body physiognomy and your age, and if you do workouts for exercise that is intended to take the place of physical exertions, good for your anatomy and physiology -- as the saying goes, Use it or lose it, allow me to suggest that you need not take any special nutrition supplements; and after any exercise where you lose water from perspiration, drink water.

Just keep to an adequate diet of balanced and variegated menus, that is, dishes, representing meats, sea foods, dairy products, vegetables, fruits; and of course minimum alcohol intake and no smoking.

You can channel money spent for food supplements to the purchase of good books and informative periodicals.

In your case, Shepard, I think you do consume a big quantity of nutrition supplements and nootropics.

I used to work as a volunteer in a hospital, and I know that just to keep track of your devotion to the substances you feel you have to ingest faithfully everyday, adhering closely to your schedules, is a big hassle in terms of logistics of buying, storage, and dispensing to yourself.

For which account, you are not as free as you would be, if you just give attention to eating an adequate balanced diet at every meal, as I have described such a repast to Hallucinogen.

People generally live a very healthy and long life with such a simple always and readily available food program.

As a word of caution, all those artificially manufactured substances can be a stressful ordeal on your kidneys and liver, leading to all kinds of stones in your body organs, and in future years complications that might result in a compromised physiology and shorten your remaining years.

Well, I will stop here, with just one last word: If you are naturally sickly and weak, or in old debilitated years, then perhaps the use of artificially produced nutrients and brain enhancing drugs might be helpful.

"THIS PRODUCT is regularly tested using AOAC international protocols for potency and purity by and independent, FDA registered laboratory and found to be free of detectable levels of mercury, cadmium, lead, PCB's and 28 other contaminants."

Sounds good to me... besides when you are talking about toxins in quantities like parts per billion you have to think you are getting more than that from other sources  already, in your air, water, food, etc.  If you applied this level of scrutiny to everything you put in your body I think 1) the results would be alarming and 2) you wouldnt be able to eat or drink anything ;)

if your talking about carlson...'detectable' means down to parts per million, i believe below 2.5mcg per serving is the 'legal' limit for things like lead(which is right at the border for toxicity). so if anyone is taking more than the recomended dose, which most do(taking4+ grams of DHA.EPA through fishoil every day)...you need to be EXTRA careful about the purity. dont let anyone tell you their fish oil is free of toxins, because they are misleading you. we have the COA's from all the leading companies... carlson isnt even close to being as pure as nordic, reliance, now.

and because you DO get so much from the air & polution(everyone should drink pure water)... is exactly why everything else you put into your body should be pure. the results ARE alarming, which is why i do apply the same scrutiny to nearly everything that goes into my body.

Fair enough... would you mind sharing the data from the COA's you have for carlson's and nordic naturals? The local vitamin shoppe carries both, I had no idea Nordic was superior.

i dont have the specific numbers for you, as the papers are in my boss's office...but i can summarize the results.

carlson & cormega both SAID they were 'no detectable amounts'... which is just a bullshit thing companies say when they only test down to right below the bare legal minimum. any company that tells you their fishoil has NO impurities is lying, and shouldnt be trusted.

nordic was the most pure by FAR... and is probably the most pure fishoil sold in the world today(as you can tell by the price)

reliance was 2nd behind nordic... i think the only difference was 10 parts per billion mercury vs. nordics 5 parts per billion. not a horribly significant difference, but nordic still wins.

NOW's fishoil was pretty good too... not sure on the specific numbers, but it wasnt bad. not comperable to nordic or reliance though.

Susma you obviously have no understanding (or interest) of supplements or nootropics, thus any future posts in my sections will be moved to the catcher.

Free speech is one thing…. letting idiots interrupt intelligent dialogue to get attention is another.

Hi-

I found a really high EPA fish oil at http://www.omegabrite.com/index.html and am taking it. Anyone heard of this or know anything in terms of its purity? I emailed them today for a COA but they refer in their FAQ's to Consumer Lab as the place to find that info.

Meanwhile- anyone know about the purity of AOR's EPA Brite or the LEF brand ? Does Nordic Naturals still come out on top? Is the Reliance brand considerably less expensive than Nordic?

Thanks.
