Now the right hand side three-bar menu is hidden by an overlay.
As a result, there is again no way to get to recent topics.

I just put in an active topics link under the forum menu.
It isn't there.
Recent topics is under the "search" item, same place where it has been for the past 2 years in the sidebar menu.
There is no sidebar menu. (Firefox 35 Windows.)

When clicking on a specific currently active (they’ve posted today) user’s profile I get the following:
Sorry, you don't have permission for that!

The menu adjust dynamically to screen size, pushing things under 'more' if things get tight. However, if the browser window is very small the 'three bar' thing shows up instead - this is the 'mobile skin', and the overlay is no problem on very small screen devices because it doesn't appear on those. If people have this problem, we need to know more about the specific of your screen size, device and browser settings.
APBT, perhaps the user got banned that day. Please post separately if you encounter that problem again, I don't think the issue is layout-related.

Thank you sir, apologies for posting in the wrong thread. I am still experiencing the same issue, see here:

I found the recent topics under Search on top the screen, but obviously the change messed me up for a while. When I was new, it took me a long time to find the "Recent Topics" for the first time. Before that I was just going into the Forum sections from the main forum menu, digging up what were mostly old threads whose topics I found interesting. I didn't know how people were finding the Active Threads for a while.
We need the Recent Topics to be obvious and highlighted, on the screen all the time when on the forums, if not whenever you are on the site. Otherwise the discussions will be a lot less active.
In a lot of cases, the layout you how to use proficiently is preferable to anything new. This has usually been true here.
The auto-correct on my blog seemed more aggressive and more wrong than before.
As before, random words are highlighted, like blog, book, etc. They used to link to Wikipedia for no known reason and probably still do. That makes the writer look off kilter. That is still going on.

Here's a guy who has been a member for a day. He has posted 38 times. Quite a lot of it is on older threads. It might be that he doesn't know how to find the "Recent Topics" link.

The Original Poster is no longer marked on a thread. Confusing.
Posted 27 January 2015 - 08:12 AM
I think it's not so difficult to find now. When I arrived here, I didn't know about Recent Topics existence for a long time, until someone mentioned it in a post.
Posted 28 January 2015 - 06:06 AM
Which is why it needs to be visible and highlighted. We are missing a lot of participation.
ARE YOU GUYS GOING TO GO BACK TO THE AUTO-CORRECT FROM BEFORE? THE NEW ONE IS CORRECTING MANY CORRECT WORDS. CAN WE NOT HAVE AN OPTIONAL SPELL CHECK WE CAN RUN ON OUR POSTS AFTERWARDS?
Posted 28 January 2015 - 06:18 AM
Firefox has a fairly decent spell checker, and it works in real time rather than after the fact. That sort of functionality belongs in a browser anyway, not replicated on every website in the world. (Just my software design HO)

Well I got to make two posts today. This will be my last according to the post counter above the type-in window. I very disappointed by this new rule and the fact that the post counter seems broken. I.e it says five posts but after making 1 post in another thread on this topic it notified me that I have 1 more post for today. Namely this one.

Perhaps the time limit for normal privileges could be shortened? A year is a long time. How about a tiered approach? 3 posts for a week, 4 for a month, 6 for 4 months, then unlimited? We don't want to drive away valuable members of our community.
Posted 29 January 2015 - 03:19 PM
I also reached the 2 posts limit some hours ago, but now I have 2 more posts available (well, only 1 when I finish this post).
It's a ridiculously low limit. It's impossible to discuss anything this way. And spammers can create new users when they want. I report 2-3 spammers every day on the Introduce Yourself subforum.

One of my posts was deleted so I get to make one more reply today! Yay! Here goes, Antonio, It's probably not related to spam.
I think the administration wants to encourage people to buy full membership. I can't blame them of course, putting togheter something like this forum is a huge effort.
My economy does not allow me to shell $50 for a forum membership at the moment. So I will wait until june.

Can we have rollover posts? I mean even ATT is doing that now, I am sure LC can

I don't have $50 either, and heck, the hosting of the website and wiki of a political party I administer costs less than that.
Posted 29 January 2015 - 09:22 PM
I think the policy might be related to a new user who spammed the forum with a large number of low quality posts in a short time.
Posted 30 January 2015 - 04:31 AM
Maybe I'm too cynical then Niner. I'm sympathetic to the issue of machinegun posting as I deal with that on other forums. Anyway the counter here is broken. It allows me to make one post every now and then, not 5 post/day, so this is todays LE post

Yes that should be avoided. We don't want to drive away valuable members of our community.

IMO something like this would be a good idea. I think that such a low quality poster/spammer can be detected by the admins/mods and then only that poster can be restricted. And generally an initial 5 post for 10 days then 10 for a month may be enough for the detect.Perhaps the time limit for normal privileges could be shortened? A year is a long time. Someone may have covered this but if you join you can make as many posts are you want. There used to be a low-cost membership for people who needed it.
Posted 02 February 2015 - 07:53 AM
I will not post anymore until this limit is eliminated.

Today the Recent Topics are gone again. There is no menu bar with droplists along the top of the page any more.
I just put in an active topics link under the forum menu.
Active topics are gone again today. WAs still working yesterday.

I'm afraid it looks like the sidebar may need to come back. We are losing to much advertising revenue from the spot that used to be in the top left.
If anyone has a brilliant alternative suggestion let me know.
Posted 28 February 2015 - 07:41 AM
Bring it back. This forum is important.

+1! I never understood why it was gone.

+1! I never understood why it was gone.
The main problem with it is that it uses up screen real estate that would otherwise be allocated to the post. With so many people using smaller devices, that's important.
How much money are we losing? Is the change really worth it?

Since the menu in his current upper position remains in the screen when you scroll down, there was no real gain.
