Hey all,
Does it make sense to try the 5mg paxil therapy? My doc says that it is not effective below 20mg but I don't want to risk all those nasty withdrawal effects.
Couple of questions:
- do you think 5mg can be effective for anxiety/depression?
- do you think it will still have withdrawal symptoms (5 years ago I have quit from 80mg paxil could turkey and it was hell on earth - funny though it didn't help much my anxiety then)
- are there any other effective drugs in this area (ssri/mao) that can be used in low dose?
Additional notes:
- tried moclomebide for a year the side effect were little (joint pain, urinary problems) but it made me feel like I had stone on my head
- tried lexapro and after 3 days I got urinary retention which disappeared after I have discontinued the drug
- tried effexor but didn't pass the 4 day trial since the side effects were to severe
- tried 5htp, sam-e, l-tyrosine ended up with the same "stone on my head" effect
My only theory at this point is that since I have gut issues (celiac disease) I may have problems with serotonin levels (since most of serotonin is made in the gut?). And yes I'm on gluten free diet for 5 years already but nothing changed in the area of my mental health.
I have tolerated paxil pretty well back in the day (just a lot of yawning and issues with sleepiness). It helped slightly with my depression but didn't do much for my GAD/OCD/anxiety. I was taking it for 3 months and surprisingly though it made me super horny instead of not having a libido.
So what do you think guys? I'm currently running on nicotinamide riboside + pterostilbene and low GI diet (plus gluten free and dairy free) + exercises every day. There are moments when I feel good but at random I am experiencing this stone-on-head feeling, sudden brain fog and tiredness. I have tested my thyroid, hormones, sugar and all came back OK. So this leaves me with anxiety/depression I believe.
Is there anything I can do in this area?
