Folic Acid Reducing Brain Fog

Would anyone know why Folic Acid reduces my brain fog symptoms besides having an folic acid deficiency? My diet is pretty sound so it seems unlikely that I would have an folic acid deficiency. or maybe my body may not synthesize folic acid from food?  When I take folic Acid I feel slightly more articulate and more "with it". It's definitely not a cure for my brain fog but it does help.

Folic acid converts to methylfolate and methylfolate increases methylation and BH4. Increased methylation means you have more SAM-e in your body which can increase your neurotransmitter levels like dopamine and serotonin. Additionally, BH4 is a co-factor that works with tryptophan hydroxylase and tyrosine hydroxylase to produce serotonin and dopamine. I've found methylfolate to be very helpful in reducing brain fog and improving motivation. Here's an article that shows how methylfolate increases monoamines through BH4 production:
