Initial research indicated that niacinamide upregulated
Sir2 gene silencing activity in worms, and thus
was postulated to enhance longevity in humans as well.

This theory has been promoted particularly by Will Block
of Life Enhancement:

Later research appears to show the reverse is true apparently.
Does anyone have any comments ?

Here is a post started by Scott L that supports the theory that niacin or niacinamide is probably not the best form:
http://www.imminst.o...81&hl=niacin&s=

Just judging from the reactions I get from regular niacin, it is probably not the best form to take. I get a "flush" that is apparently caused by the release of histamine-- which is essentially the mechanism behind an allergic response. It seems like this can hardly be healthy.

There are only two general forms to chose from

niacinaminde (form usually used) and

niacin.

There are several forms of niacin to attempt to address the flushing issue.

I'm not clear if niacinamide has any problems for those of us not doing CR.
