the whole nootropic thing has me very very fascinated, as i had luck (i think anyways) with a choline supplement before, which i still take. i am awaiting arrival of a bottle of neurostim (which i just realized was lacking piracetam, oh well), and am wondering how, if at all, anybody on this board gauges the effectiveness of nootropics in healthy adults.

i see a lot of studies quoted and extrapolations, but haven't found much in the way of raw testing nootropics in healthy individuals, or people testing them on themselves using any means besides subjective measures.

any response would be appreciated. also, if anyone can help me find a place that offers varying IQ tests, that would be great as well. not even necessarily IQ tests, just any kind of test that changes its questions each time used so you can have an unbiased before and after attempt (or series of attempts for research's sake) of effects in yourself.

(if no one has any tests in mind, i believe a 'nootropic' product at my store (a major, nation-wide vitamin retailer in america) has some kind of online test for their product, i'll see if i can get login info or soemthing)

i have stop taking all my nootropics month ago. first week i noticed no change. but now i can really feel my mind and memory are not as sharp as they were during nootropics use. i sometimes gets frustrated because i can't express myself the way i did when i used nootropics.
to conclude: there is a great difference, and i'll start using piracetam, hydergine and choline again ;)

see that's what i mean; i can find a ton of anecdotal reports, and i recognize that this is walking on thin ice, but i want something tangible.

i am not calling out anyone in particular, but placebo effect is huge. i see it on a regular basis, as i'm *kind of* in the fitness industry. that combined with the fact that i'm trying to see an actual, raw number or relative change, not just 'it is good' type stuff.

Most nootropics have been studied in healthy people in various aspects of cognitive enhancement, but considering the research is consider worthless by most drug companies you will not see alot of research in healthy people.

The research behind nootropics effecting the brain is overwhelming and clearly not a placebo effect.

Could you please link me to some of the most notable studies if it's not a problem?

Go into the nootropic research forum at the top of the list of threads. You'll find all you are looking for. Or do a google search.
