hi what about avocados, l-glutamine and a gallon apple juice / malic acid supps (or is it the same as the apple fiber found in green defense)?

are you following a certain protocol something like, 3-4 day colon flush followed by 1 day liver flush then 1 day colon flush while kidney detoxing all throughout, then finally lymph management?

have u tried oxy-powder (28mg germanium and 3,500mg magnesium oxides per 5caps) yet for a more comprehensive colon detox? don't you think you're getting a rip off of yerba prima colon care? it only has 20mg magnesium and i think u need about 700mg a day during detox. isn't apple pectin beneficial for dissolving stones as a pre-liver detox supplement too? are u keen on doing an enema? it's good to add a powdered probiotic mix to the enema directly populating the colon. what do you think?

im checking on your NAC, coz i read: http://www.wholeheal...0.html#Cautions it says more than 2.8g a day may actually lower gluta and may act as a prooxidant.

How about probiotics from http://www.customprobiotics.com what's your take on it? I've read some notable health/probiotic enthusiasts recommend it. I'm trying to take them with my Primal Defense.

I would like to resurrect this thread, if members are willing, and turn it into a sharing of known detox methods.

Matcha green tea increases fecal excretion of PCBs:
http://www.ncbi.nlm....4336&query_hl=1

Chlorella beneficial in cadmium toxicity (judging by title of study, no abstract available):
http://www.ncbi.nlm....2454&query_hl=2

Vitamin C protects against brain damage caused by PCB:
http://www.ncbi.nlm....8992&query_hl=5

Chlorella beneficial in lead toxicity:
http://www.ncbi.nlm....1705&query_hl=2

IP6 has various heavy-metal binding effects. Summary at:
http://www.knowledge.....0Bran Cleanse

Lipoic acid does not chelate lead when taken alone:
http://www.ncbi.nlm....3922&query_hl=3

Oral chelation agent EDTA apparently is useful in heavy metal detox. Tom of MoreLife takes it:
http://forum.lef.org...px?f=35&m=16484

Then there is this amusing product from Natural Factors:
http://www.iherb.com/detoxitech.html
Looks much like a multivitamin to me. Another crappy Canadian supplement.

Tired of searching PubMed now. Are there any others?

Ajnastr: I picked up a can of the Green Defense and I'm only going to take one serving a day. I'm considering either when arising or at bedtime. Do you have a suggestion?

Eh, to hell with it. I couldn't decide, so I'm going to take it twice a day -- wake-up and bedtime. Do you think there is any reason to take it with a meal instead of on an empty stomach? So far I've had it twice on an empty stomach, so there is no issue of stomach pain, or anything like that.

If it works, power to you, but the whole thing seems strange to me.

As I understand it, the theory behind fasting contributing to detoxification is that the lack of digestion reduces the amount of blood pooled around the stomach, moving the blood elsewhere to where it is needed?

Seems silly. Perhaps there is a better theory.

Now, with a lot of detoxes, strange herbs and supplements are used, apparently in an effort to flush the systems. Has there been proof of such detoxification supplements actually expelling toxins by compariing stool levels of toxins before and after in multiple people, while ascertaining that the toxin levels came from the body and not from the herbal supplements themselves?

Pardon for bumping up this ancient thread, I'm just curious how the detoxing turned out for those who tried...

And while this has been resurrected, I'm wondering if anyone has other experience/knowledge with detox.

What would you say to be a thorough way of detoxing?
Things to consider are kidneys, liver, colon...I know for the liver its key to get phase II up and running prior to phase I.

Some options I'm researching (some quite unpleasant), I'm still at the stage of combining/finding/researching/adding the various ingredients:
For Colon:
1. parasite cleanse: Black Walnut Hulls
Wormwood
Clove Stems
Garlic
Pumpkin Seeds
Goldenseal
Sage
Thyme
Fennel
Male Fern
Cranberry Powder
Grape Seed Extract
2. emptying of mucoid buildup: Psyllium...anything else?
For Liver:
Phase I
Phase II
Milk Thistle--a definite
Dandelion
For Kidneys: lots of water

Does anyone know an effective sequence?
I'm quite sure this is overkill, and am probably only going for liver and colon, with parasite cleanse and toxin elimination, as well as optimization...so I'm just wondering how to avoid being overloaded by toxic die-off. Still somewhat uninformed, would appreciate insight.
