Living Longer, Living Better (ABC News Special Feature) is a special feature running this week on ABC NEWS. Living Longer, Living Better Living Longer, Living Better ABC NEWS is a wide ranging series running all this week about living healthy in old age. They are discussing many things that we do here, from supplements, to exercise, to social ramifications. It is a little maddening to watch because they have taken a general stance that death is good, and that we should just try to live healthier but not reverse aging. They really haven't talked to anyone from our end of the spectrum. Obviously they should. It would open their eyes to the possibilies. Feel free to send them friendly emails inviting their reporters to our conference (good timing).

you know what's interesting is the terminology used by most people.

1. "HEALTHY AGING", an oxymoron. Like jumbo shrimp and honest politician. Aging of the human species brings about various maladies regardless of the onset, wether it's 80 or 115 years old it comes to all.

2. LIVING HEALTHY, an interesting term were it not for the fact that it is often used to describe individuals that evolution has no more need of.(anyone older than 40). Health descibes the state of homeostasis that the human body is close to in the teens and early 20's but not beyond that.

Point is that we need to reevaluate the wording used in conjunction with "life extension" and rephrase it to accomodate the ever changing english language. And become an objective descriptive instead of a subjective catchphrase.

Here is a link to one of their feature stories discussing genes that may protect people as they age.

Living Longer, Living Better (ABC News Special Feature)

In one of their articles/features they discuss the perverbial "fountain of youth". The topics are covered very general, but include:

Caloric restriction CR
Cryonic Suspension: They mention Alcor and the Cryonics Institute.
Robotics and nanotechnology: Kurzweil headlines this section.

Unfortunately they do not mention the Immortality Institute or Aubrey De Grey.
