Is there a pamphlet or short book describing it somewhere that could be introduced to people who have a lot of money or may be interested and if not does anybody think that creating a short book/pamphlet would be a good direction to go in?

What kind of government channels need to be gone through to show support for an IBG?

Im wondering if the idea is that there is pretty much just one channel that needs to be harnessed to get an IBG running or if there is a lot of room for brainstorming on different ways to make it a reality.

Are there any clever, creative or just simple ways to go about making an IBG a reality that you might have?

If we can't get it all at once, we need to do it stepwise and this is already happening. The MF is coordinating and funding selected aspects of the lysosome project and early steps of this research are happening in world class bioremediation labs. Impressive although preliminary results have been achieved, some but not all of which were presented on SENS2. The best way for an individual to support this is to volunteer their time for foundation-funded research projects if they have a life science degree, or otherwise donate all money they can spare to the MF. An appropriate research funds option has been incorporated in the donation interface at the mprize web site.

Talking about it a great deal online would be a good start, and something we can all help with.

What is the MF? What kinds of experiences have people around here had with talking to other people than the MF with the kind of money to support an IBG? Im thinking about coming up with some simple thing outlining why its a good reason to support an IBG so that if I ever stumble across a famous or rich person I can pass it on to them. (Not likely they will latch onto the idea but hey, onward meme!)

I would rather collaborate here to come up with some sort of pamphlet or short book type thing outlining though. I suppose I could just take Aubreys outline of it and reformat it but Ide like to try to incorporate some attention grabbers and quotes that speak really powerfully and succinctly into it and stuff like that if anybodies got any general ideas on it.

The Methuselah Foundation ;) As you can see, we are not at the point to have a single individual fund the entire IBG, but substantial money is flowing as I explained above. If you like to improve the IBG outline, great. I think the best way to get started is to get in touch with Aubrey and discuss what you have in mind. The major point that I would like to see incorporated is the one I made above that donations to the IBG need not be all or nothing, but even small amounts can and will be put to good use immediately and in fact help the whole thing grow.

Oh!... Methuselah Foundation. I always think of it as the Methuselah Mouse Prize. Havent been keeping up enough with that.

donations to the IBG need not be all or nothing,

Thats what I meant too. I maybe should have explained that more. I dont expect people to donate the whole billion or whatever is suggested, I just want them to consider 100,000 or 2,000 or 3,000,000 or whatever.

Which reminds me of an idea Ive had for a while, maybe its a mainstream idea, what do you think... I think it may be beneficial to incorporate the idea into the whole thing that you can donate directly, or you can sign up on a list, write your name, how much you are willing to donate, and there will be a stipulation that they dont have to donate that money until all the other slots in the list are filled to reach a certain amount, like a billion dollars.

What I meant about the IBG outline was not so much improving it, but reformatting it to pamphlet form or something like that with relavent and impactful pictures, quotes, titles and whatever.

Yes, but what I was trying to say was also that there is no need to wait "until all the other slots in the list are filled". One can, if one wants to, e.g. the 300, but it is also important to know that donations can be efficiently targeted at high leverage SENS research projects right here right now.
I like your idea with the pamphlet. If you come up with something, please share in the outreach section.

I know its good to get money out there now so anti aging can do what it can with it, I fully support giving now. What I mean is, Im sure there are many people out there who dont want to give because they are hesitant for various reasons related to success and their money.

I think a list with that kind of a stipulation would go a long way in getting a lot more people to donate. Im not sure though of course. What do you think? This list would likely thrive better in a much more memed world though. Maybe in a year or five.

As to the pamphlet, unless somebody does it before me, Ill see what I can come up with and bring it here for editing.

Good. As for deferring donations until some sum is reached, I tend to agree that it would be something for the future, but I really don't have much of a clue, since I'm not a business person at all. I think for now the Foundation's schemes are working excellent as it is, but it can't hurt to consider a new model every now and then. I'm just really the wrong person to ask.

Just wanted to note that there is a project underway to start a gerontology research center in Suhumi, Russia (in the Institute of Experimental Pathology and Therapy). There are facilities, there are specialists, there is full cooperation from the director of the institute. The director is willing to essentially give half of the institute together with the famous monkey nursery.

What is needed is money (because the instutute is broke) and additional specialists (from Russia and international).

Info (in Russian, use the Babelfish) is here:

Any ideas, suggestions are welcome, please write to rtd-info@mail.ru
