I had an opportunity to observe my mom's memory on l-serine - the effect has been negative. Bad forgetfulness.
So, I have updated my theory - L-serine is known to convert to d-serine, which increases GABA workings. But GABA is inhibitory, which leads to forgetfulness.
I have seen PS having a positive effect on my mom's memory, so to me it appears that PS's positive effect comes from the phosphatidyl component, and not the serine portion.
One way to test the preceding theory is to try something similar, such as phosphatidylcholine (PC). I know that there are research data that supports its positive effects on memory. Choline is a bit excitatory, so PC should be more helpful for memory than PS.
