None, bisglicinate might be the better tolerated up to a certain degree.
Topical magnesium oil doesn't cause bowel discomfort but it is all to be seen if it is really going to make its way to the blood stream.

Hi lemon_,
I take multiple forms of Magnesium, and do not get any Bowel or Intestinal distress from them. It is my general understanding from blogs, not research, that the body can only absorb so much at one time. That is why I spread it out.
My powdered multi has a daily dose of 400 mg from various chelates of Magnesium split into AM and afternoon. I also take a mid morning and evening dose blend of Magnesium Ascorbate and DiMagnesium Malate powders providing 120mg Magnesium from the Ascorbate and around 300mg Magnesium from the Malate twice a day.
I have experimented with Magnesium "oil" from Magnesium Chloride at bedtime, but have not gotten that into my routine. It can sting the skin.
The following is a link to a thread on the Bulletproofexec site that discusses all issues Magnesium at length. If the link does not work, a google search can get you there. Good luck.

Hi lemon_, while I can not personally attest as much to the beneficial effects, I took 400-600mg of Magnesium Glycinate for a long period of time with no digestive issues. I recently started using 500-750mg of DiMagnesium Malate, and have not noticed any digestive issues either. Like with many supplements, it can be harder for me personally to notice the effects of individual things(or the whole lot), but my research said that those were pretty good options and they seemed worthwhile for a number of reasons. I feel confident recommending these, and if I recall correctly, Magnesium Oxide is one of the main culprits to avoid for digestive issues.
