Podcasting has really taken off in the last year or so, and it is a great way to get audio content outside the sometimes stale confines of radio and even internet streams.

Here are some resources:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/

iTunes has a podcasting feature, that lets you both browse and subscribe to podcasts. I haven't used it very much myself, save to stock my girlfriend's iPod, but it is well recommended.

Juice is a podcast manager, once you've found things that you like, to download regular shows and organize them.

The Association of Music Podcasting has some good music podcasts, and many science podcasts exist, google on your favorite topic and 'podcast'. Look for the RSS link, to subscribe using the application of your choice.

Attached is my subscriptions file from Juice, in case you are interested.

This is a great idea outlaw.

I have noticed that podcasting is fast eclipsing web streaming and combining the aspects of Tivo to radio broadcasting. I use pubcatcher to just set up the shows I want to hear and I can listen to them at my leisure when time permits.

I wish I could find some good podcasts regarding stem cells (but more advanced material). I certainly don't know where to look, because this technology is new to me.

I wish there was more out there on science in general. I've got science friday hooked up, but I haven't seen much else in the way of general overviews of science stories. In depth is good, but I usually listen while taking a walk and only half paying attention to the talk as I look around. Just enough attention for the broad look, but not quite enough to spare for details.

About a year ago, I got hooked on podcasting. I remember riding my bike off of campus to grab something to eat and I regularly listened to podcasts such as Biotech Nation and Linux OpenSource channels. Since I have moved away from academia and have a car which I use to transport myself to work, I really hate the radio content and miss my old Podcasts. I feel deprived, local radio with the exception of NPR is so white trash. And even NPR has way too much artistic crap and commentry that I don't want to hear about. For example, yesterday they had some woman talking for 20 minutes about growing up in some Spanish country -- I could care less. But there was nothing else on so I just shut off the radio. There really should be a better way to interface the iPod into the car. Some cars have integration kits, but these are quite expensive. And the cassette interface really sucks. I purchased an FM transmitter, but it was way too cheap. I guess I'll try another.

I've found podcasting to be an exceptional way to stay focused during running / working out. Some of my faves:

"Left, Right, and Center" for current events political commentary: http://www.kcrw.com/show/lr

"The Naked Scientists" for random amusing science by the BBC: http://www.thenakedscientists.com/

"Skepticality" for a skeptical take on pseudoscience and religion: http://www.skepticality.com/index.php

I like "Skepticality" too, as well as "Diggnation", but I am a nerd. [wis]
