Can boosting your social status increase serotonin?

Are depressed people actually suffering low social status and antidepressant "fake" alpha male / female status and then you can attain the actual social status you desire?

it probably affects your health positively in other ways too.  if you're looking to swap cause and effect, boosting dopamine and serotonin should supply the necessary drive and attitude.

fwiw, the largest proportion of violent offenders resolve from lower classes.  it's hard to care what others think when you have a lot going for you. having said that...

reputation? what reputation?  i couldn't care less what others think of me.

no one thinks much of me, i'm sure, but i work still in the nights, over my crystal orb and slowly resolve the mysteries of the universe.  do i give a shit for herd acceptance and the world of human commotion and festivity? eh, some days.

somewhere along your journey you have to decide what is most important to you.  for me that was spreading my ideas thru different mediums (posts, videos, comp applications).  a near continuous supply of marijuana and female attention also helps keep my mind off things like real money and status.

consider that ramanujan had no formal training, an indian boy studying in his mother's den!  yet he made some of the greatest contributions to mathematics.

also consider Thales, the first (what we may call) Western philosopher

There is the anecdote of Thales the Milesian and his financial device, which involves a principle of universal application but is attributed to him on account of his reputation for wisdom. He was reproached for his poverty, which was supposed to show that philosophy was of no use. According to the story, he knew by his skill in the stars while it was yet winter that there would be a great harvest of olives in the coming year, so, having a little capital, he gave earnest money for the use of all the olive presses in Chios and Miletus, which he hired at a low price because no one bid against him. When the harvest time came and many wanted them all at once and of a sudden, he let them out at any rate which he pleased and made a quantity of money. Thus he showed the world that philosophers can easily be rich if they like, but that their ambition is of another sort. He is supposed to have given a striking proof of his wisdom, but, as I was saying, his device for getting money is of universal application, and is nothing but the creation of a monopoly.

You've sadly misunderstood serotonin. It's gaba and dopamine that primarily cause the feelings associated with male hormones. Serotonin is not "the happy neurotransmitter," doesn't have much to do with happiness in my book, if that's what you're thinking of.

If anything it's dopamine which increases with an increased social status.

Then explain how my premature ejaculation got worse since getting a stress attack & suffering loneliness few years back. Afaik, PE is caused by low serotonin mostly, at least proserotonergics are what have most robust response in this condition.

From my experience alpha status is when you go IDGAF and at the same time have high enough test to actually be aggressive / dominant when needed or threatened.

Also there are studies which show that beta chimps become alpha males with serotonin reuptake inhibition.

I don't understand your first question.

"I don't give a fuck" is an effeminate, tiny-brain apathetic teenager's mindset. Men are not automatically aggressive, male aggression when it's actually caused by male hormones and not some genetic mutation has to do with dominance challenges and such. Men who are violent or aggressive are mostly such because of some genetic mutations with catecholamine genes. Taking testosterone doesn't make you aggressive by itself.

Serotonin causes personality traits like conflict avoidance, increased "empathy," adherence to social rules (also moral character) and more.

It can boost nerve growth factor (NGF) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which in turn improves the overall working of the brain (i.e feeling good). At least in mice. :)

actually aggression gets inhibited by serotonin. That is why serotonin is gets lower when you fall down the social ladder and this can be shown in almost all animals even in crustaceans . It is, so you don't give a fck and show high risk behaviour because you have nothing to loose anymore. Usually high status people are much calmer then low status people, but you have to recognize that this is in regards to status perception and not real status (whatever that might be). There is actually no real status at all, only perception of status. That is why, some rich people can have disgusting personalities, because they perceive their status to be low, while it is actually high. You can also call that an inferiority complex.
