I'm looking for a Methylcobalamin or Hydroxocobalamin supplement without sweeteners (and also without other vitamins; so not a B-Complex).
Please help me out if you can. I need a B12 supplement with no sweeteners in it. I'm very sensitive to them. Even Xylitol, fructose, malitol, and sorbitol are a problem. Every B12 product (with one or two exceptions; I'll get to those in a minute) I've looked at has contained one or more of these.

Cyanocobalamin is not an option. Everything I've read about it indicates that it's, at best, a waste of money.

I did find a methylcobalamin supplement in patch form. The problem there is that I'm not sure I can control the dosage, which will probably be necessarry. I can try cutting the patch into smaller patches, I guess, but before I try that, I'd like to find out whether there are any other options.

I found a Hydroxocobalamin powder which contains no sweeteners, but it does contain a whole lot (99%) of dicalcium phosphate. I don't have any experience with this substance. Wikipedia says that it can be kinda nasty.

I don't think I'm going to be able to get B12 injections.

Does anyone have any suggestions? If I don't hear a better idea, I'll probably just go with the patches and hope I can figure out the dosing issue via trial and error. But since I'm new to B12 supplementation, I figured I'd better ask the question before moving forward.

Thanks.

Questions you may feel the need to ask me. With answers, of course.

1. "Why do you need vitamin B12?"

Because I've been dealing with fatigue most of my life, it's gotten worse in the last few years,  and I now realize that I've never really given B12 a proper trial. More importantly, for the past year or so, I've had neuropathy, mood problems, and some other symptoms consistent with B12 deficiency. Oh, and I take large doses of acid-controllers every day, which can cause B12 deficiency. To top it all off, there are some credible sources arguing that the standard B12 blood test misses a deficiency about 50 percent of the time, so I don't have 100% confidence in my doctor's opinion on this subject. I'm going to have to find out the answer the old fashion way.

2. "Why can't you have sweeteners like Xylitol and Sorbitol? Even diabetics can eat those."

No one really knows why. I just have this severe problem with carbs and with anything even a little bit sweet. If I eat something like that, I get absurdly hungry and end up with an ugly headache. If I had to dose myself with a sweetener every day for a month, I'd be a 400 pound pain med addict. I've made a little progress on this issue with the help of R-Lipoic, but I still haven't been able to change my diet much.

3. "Why do you need to control the dosage?"

One of the features of my mystery disorder (no one can identify what I have) is a central nervous system that can't relax. My neck muscles are permanently clenched (they're calling it cervical dystonia), I have trouble sleeping, I have restless involuntary movements, and I'm generally nervous and tense. Oh, and I mentioned the headaches; they're connected to all of this as well. In my experience, B12 supplements tend to aggravate these problems. I'm hoping to begin with a small dose and gradually increase it, so I'll be less inclined to quit before the stuff has had a chance to work. I tried this approach with MitoQ recently and was pleasantly surprised by how well it worked.

You could use transdermal oil, it shown to be quite effective amongst phoenixrising members with CFS

http://www.b12oils.com/products.htm

But you will also need to have some additional B vit supplementation going with it. You are going to speedup your methulation and without cofactors you will eventually endup even in a worse position then now. At least b2 and methylfolate. I would propose Swanson Activated B vitamins http://www.swansonvi...ity-60-veg-caps

P.S. If you suppose that you have some problems with methylation it would be wise to do a 23andme test and, if available, some oriented methylation blood test. Big chances that dont need methylcobalamin and cyanocobalamin would more then good for you. Its not a bad idea to know what to treat before the treatment ))

I've used transdermal magnesium "oil", but I never thought of looking for a comparable product containing B12. Thank you. I had a look at your link. This
Adenosylcobalamin is interesting. I'll have to read up on it.

I didn't know the B12 regimen would require additional vitamins. Again, I'll need to do some reading. I can't take a B-Complex, unfortunately, because I can't handle Niacin. I think I may have some issues with B-6 as well.

I can check out the 23andMe test, but it's a safe bet it won't fit into my budget. That's usually the case with blood tests not covered by insurance.

I think I'm going to avoid the cyanocobalamin. If it doesn't help, I'll never know whether it was because I just didn't need B12 or because the form I chose couldn't get the job done.

Thanks for all the advice.
