When I first found LongeCity about a decade or more ago (it was the Immortality Institute then), I passively assumed that it was much bigger and staffed by an army of PhDs working feverently cure aging and rejuvenate anyone who was interested. It wasn't until much later that I actually signed up wanting to volunteer as I hadn't been able to become a million or billionaire with lots of money to contribute that I found out we were actually an untapped community of likeminded individuals and information benefactors and that weren't generating revolutionary medicine.

So as new signups, or long time members, what do you think? Should we start acting like a big nonprofit? Mobilizing people to become lifetime supporters with subscription giving? Should we enlist volunteers to help stay connected to our visitors in the long term and ask for small funding on a recurring basis? Certainly we do a disservice to our community and our mission if we do not. After all, you came here looking for a solution that we don't have yet and won't have until we do alot more work.

Some might say that we're just here to provide community, let the other orgs do the fundraising... I say we should do the fundraising, there is no guarantee that they everyone who comes here has been asked to donate or made a contribution or that we have significant overlap with any of these other organizations. I feel that by taking part in this, we too can fundraise to accomplish the mission, and if other organizations need money, we'll always have more to give them.

What do you think? Shouldn't we be working harder for you? The average bottle of supplements is about $10/month, some of the most common go for $30/month and it won't make you live longer, it won't make you too much smarter. Our work, and funding scientists who are going to cure aging and make us all young, and cure us of virtually all disease has far more value to everyone than a supplement can at this point and non profits exist because profit motives don't always produce the solutions people are looking for. Just buying a supplement or research chemical won't make you stop aging or turn back the clock on your skin. The solution you're looking for will involve gene therapy and things we might not be able to imagine today and may never imagine if we don't raise some funds. Please consider getting a membershipmaking a one time donation, or by asking us to establish a subscription based donation option. Let's make this dream, this noble aspiration to cure aging and by extension, most disease a reality in our lifetime and for the future. Let's challenge humanity to develop the solutions that take us to the stars and elevate the human condition to heights it has never before seen! Let us be free of the complications of life that have plagued us since the dawn of civilization. Let us not fight wars, but instead our common enemies which are the true cause of war and conflict and that is finite lives. This is the way to world peace and universal prosperity for all human kind. Are you afraid of dying? Are you afraid of a world where people keep aging and dying? Do you want a better solution? Contact us and let us know how we can earn your donation and let us know what you expect of our organization.

I had always hoped that Longecity would become a mega charity. I really like the idea of us all fighting a common enemy too and perhaps that could be a good way to promote the cause among other things. I think that becoming a mega charity would drive not only more funds but also more attention to life extension etc.
