4-hexylresorcinol, which has been given orally to rats as a food additive, has anthelmintic, antiseptic, and cosmetic properties appears to slow or stop melanosis and the browning of shellfish and is used in popular cosmetic products. 4H is also in some throat lozenges.
It is important to note that 4H has some estrogenic activity. But what I'm wondering is if as a food additive it might protect against aging.
