So I was reading this paper on CD44 and HA and was surprised to find that HA in neural stem cells (NSCs) actually increased with age and reduced NSC proliferation. There are however many different types of HA which are generally grouped by molecular weight. Has anyone written anything about the evolution of HAs and how their built to the extent that we could attempt to control which HAs are produced? I'm wondering how Alzheimer's drugs which are being used as nootropics might effect HA and whether they are good for skin and other organs.

Any experts out there?

I did my homework about HA a while ago, far from being an expert in the area I came to the conclusion that surprisingly we do know very little about HA and research in this field is still in its infancy.

One thing is for sure: the more is not necessarily the better (as usual) and molecular weight role isn't completely clear yet.

Ingesting huge amounts of HA might be a quite poor choice...but hope for erasing a few wrinkles is stronger than commonsense, right?:)
