On the advice of tracer I decided to start a new topic to see if others had used this technology and benefited significantly from it.
My reason for asking is I have tried many variations of sound and light machines, and brainwave generators using sound and got basically nothing from them. Feeling very frustrated, I want an alternative that works. Something that elicits improved creativity, better sleep, out of body experiences, whatever, just OTHER brain states with positive connotations.

I have an Alpha-stim and it does nothing. I had a BT-6, it did nothing. Try to get a transcranial magnetic stimulation unit, if you have an unlimited budget that is.

With all due respect, the idea behind the technology is through the use of certain frequencies to induce specific areas of your brain to follow. I've obtained zero results, (bougth my first equipment over 10 years ago).

I had earlier a chat on this forum with a fellow that claimed he was obtaining results for celular regeneration with a frequency equipment of sorts. (3 or 4 days ago) I have gonne back to some of my notes on this issue, snice cells do "vibrate" at an specific "frequency", therefore each specific organ also must do as same,

I do remember under that thougth , there was a company selling an small caplet, made in Russia of metallic nature that you had to swallow and it will create specific waves that were helpfull to regenerate the organs in your body, under all that "hocus pocus" staff I believe there is something that could be worth to follow

My opinion is that you could get results if you have the adecuate hormones "performing" in your brain at the time, since after all the hormones are the one that regulate the specific paths for oxigen and sugar in your brain

I also wonder if dissipated mineral content and Ph of the body makes a difference ?

You know, I bet you could jury-rig one of these devices pretty easily. I looked at the Shakti website and it looks like an IC and a few electromagnets. Have there been any results of people having altered states in MRI machines while getting a brain scan?

meditation

I don't have 10 years to go sit in a cave.
And regardless, I have never met anyone who meditates that has felt the intense levels of "otherness" I am looking for.
A friend used to say they didn't need drugs to experience, for instance, LSD-like effects - personally I think that's bollocks.

In a perfect world, yes, I would meditate and need nothing else, but I live in the 20th century, and I want something that can help me NOW.
I appreciate the sentiment, but people always just say "meditation" as an answer for everything. Some of us don't have the discipline or time to spend the required amount of time to make this work.

Adam, if you think meditation will take 10 years to do, you should read up on it some more. I've had lots of success with it, as have others on this board. I believe you can experience NEAR-psychadelic states without drugs, but drugs are NOT good for the sole purpose of meditation...unless you are participating in psychotherapy with Dr. Cohen and some LSD. :) But if it instant "otherness" you are looking for, drugs would be your easiest path. Unless you mean "one-ness"

If you think you don't have the time or discipline for meditation, you are the person who should try it most - You will never get the same results from a cranial stimulation device that you will meditation. I know that might seem boring :(

Cranial stimulation causes all kinds of interesting effects depending on what regions you stimulate!......unfortunately what I am referring to is intra cranial magnetic resonance stimulation, which is strictly performed by liscensed professionals in an experimental or else overseen procedure. But wait, there literally will be clinics out there that are liscensed to use ICMS machines to instantly remove bouts of depression. Your in, you get buzzed for 10 or 20 minutes by the machine, pay a minimal copay or market cost, and your out. I learned of this in my introduction to cognitive neuroscience class. Until then, get cozy with a doc that has access to an ICMS machine.

It does work and no need to sit in a cave. An easy chair works fine or even in bed. It's not a substitute for lsd if that's what you are looking for but I've experienced many things that can not be explained away. It calms you and gives a clear mind. It's like sex, people can tell you about it but you have to try it for yourself to understand.

Wait, wait if electronics is all that it is involcved , I could build one JEREBALDO, can you lead me to some information on ICMS equipment and similar??

I am to undiscipline to allow my mind to take over, or something of the sort.

I've found meditation to be very useful, mostly as training for enhancing concentration or keeping calm under difficult situations. I've even gotten as far as to experience some interesting sensations and odd states of mind. After years of meditation I still have to agree with you. Not everyone, but I'd say the vast majority of people who've said that psychedelic level effects can be obtained by 'middle class meditation' either have something to sell, no experience with psychedelics, or at most have taken subthreshold levels of a substance one or two times.

They're both something which alters the mind, but differences boil down to something even more vast than the comparison between apples and oranges.

As far as light and sound machines, and home ECT devices go, I've found them to be even more subtle than meditation. If you're left wondering if something's working for too long, chances are it's not. At least with the light and sound machines, I remember rather liking the colours.

meditation

...but I live in the 20th century

Oh brother...
OK, so I f*cked up. I'm having a bad week.

And to clarify, I am not too lazy to meditate, I just find it especially challenging, partly due to tinnitus. Have any of you ever had it? Try meditating when you have a bell ringing in your ear that never goes away. Ever. It makes it a lot harder to focus than someone without tinnitus. Hence me looking into technological alternatives.
