Hi

So i gain benefit from Ginseng this time of year in the uk when its cold and I lack energy or ability to deal with stress of life (work/house being rebuilt/teenagers!).

I take it two weeks on one off - i got this cycle from my own feelings based on energy - then lack of energy within a week and half.

I was wondering, while im off ginseng, whats a good tonic for daily use until i can get back on the panax ginseng?

I find myself lacking motivation, im tired and struggle to get out of bed int he morning.

Adaptogens currently suggested to me Ashwagandha, and Rhodiola -I was thinking american ginseng but it could take longer than a week to get going?

suggestions?

My supplement advisor said maybe i should switch korean ginseng for siberian long term (3months+)

Anyone know of any objections to running both?  One long term and other in intervals as I love korean for its warming properties

Can you do ginseng on an off a few days a week as opposed to cycling the way you said?

seems to be more of a strong tonic than a long term solution to anything, so you go hard for two week sthen take a break.

I tried rhodiola rosea last week and its a little..odd.. peaky/stressy. I went for siberian ginseng towards the wend of the week but its too estrogenic

I have ashwagandha arrving soon so will give that a shot. Im back on the korean today for two weeks though.

Ill take ashwagandha alongside it as ill take it for 4 weeks+ and overlap.

I like my Ginseng too during fall/winter months. Jiaogulan is closest adaptogen to Ginseng, it actually contains some of the same compounds (ginsenosides). Personally I take Maca root when cycling off and sometimes together with Ginseng. Ashwagandha should offer similar benefits though.

WHy not find an experienced chinese herbalist and ask them which they would recommend for you?  Just as different people do better on different diets, different herbs can be more or less helpful for different people.
