I recently figured out that I need to relax more. My mind is always racing and I dont kick back enough. I just quit using caffeine today. I recently added Rhodiola, ashwaghanda, and cocoa extract to my arsenal and I really like all three. What are some good ones that you know of????

For me, it doesn't get much better than high-dose theanine (400-600mg) for calmer periods.

I agree 100%. I just took 300mg of theanine about 4 hours ago when I got off work and I feel great. Im still trying to find something thats as good as theanine. Ashwagandha is pretty close. good stuff.

Valerian is quite relaxing. Rhodiola has a mood improving effect that I wouldnt really call relaxation.

Ive been wanting to try Valerian for a while now. Ive been taking Rhodiola every day now for about a week and so far it has been pretty good for relieving my stress.

I've heard of Gotu Kola, but never tried it.
Phenibut is another.
Picamilon.
Passiflora.
Kava-Kava.
Chamomille(sp?).
Bacopa.
High dose Taurine (7-10g).

Won't the cocoa and theanine interfere with the decision to give up caffeine?

Will valerian oil ( in water above a candle ) work as well ?

Gotu Kola works VERY well if you get the freeze dried kind and use it on an empty stomach. It barely worked whenever I used it on a full stomach. I've brands like "Nature's Way", didn't do jack.

As long as it is a pure essential oil, and not synthetic, it should have some positive effects. Most likely not as strong as when taken as a tea or dried herb.

Dont screw with valerian oil. Get valerian standardized with a certain percentage of valerenic acids.

nope......the cocoa is actually what helped me quit, + it relaxes me. It gives me a slight stimulation with a good relaxation. I will still use caffeine occasionally but only in the form of Green tea.(which is basicly nothing)

MEDITATION > pills

true, but pills give me that extra edge that I like [thumb]

I'm just gonna combine the two until Im stable enough and confident enough. Then I will rely on exercise, nutrition, and meditation.

Also try this protein pill for breakfast, lunch and dinner with standardized flavour supplements [lol] Just kidding. There is a certain amount of standardization when an essential oil is made, i.e one pound of fresh leaves/root/rhizome is distilled into one ounce of liquid. That is a standard, but I don't know what the % of valerenic acids would be. There a lot to be said for trying to relax with a candle and meditating over simply popping a pill.

Although I will probably be branded a "mystic" for that... :)
