This weekend I had the opportunity to go to the Natural Products Expo in Los Angeles. It was pretty awesome. It took up the entire Anaheim Convention Center, which is a huge space. There were food manufacturers, ingredient suppliers, health product companies and of course nutraceuticals of all sorts. We had the good (Jarrow, Natural Factors, Alacer, Japanese companies), the bad (various unproven shit, Vilantae acne therapy) and the ugly (Dr. Barefoot coral calcium) of the supplement world. I got a backpack full of samples: korean ginseng, xylitol gum, Indian spice packets, Clif bars, Odwalla bars, juices, sodas, soaps, protein, green drink mixes, and literally dozens of packets of Emer'gen-C. The Alacer guys were very generous and restocking the Emer'gen-C.
Also I got the opportunity to visit my 91 year old grandmother. She eats Spartan portions, has smoked daily for 30 years and drinks a glass of wine every night. CR? Resveratrol? Who can know?
