23andMe is offering a seasonal discount of $23 off per kit with the following link:

Last time I checked, a list-price kit costs $99 plus a year-long subscription ($9/month). Offer lasts until December 27th.

For those of you who don't know: 23andMe is a genetic testing service that looks at 1,000,000 Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in you genome. I am using it primarily for maximizing health, though it also serves as an ancestry tool.

I believe that knowing your genetic background is crucial to long-term health. Different supplements will have a different effect depending on genes and gene expression. By knowing what genetic factors you are predisposed to, you can maximize the efficiency of your supplement regimen.

During a second I thought it was 23$ only!

I imagine that in a few years we could all have our genes in our medical folder, and that we might regularly do gene-expression tests (rather than the standard traditionnal blood tests) to see how our genes are currently expressed: to see our health status and what we should do in our habits to avoid the risk that this or this pattern goes too far.
