I just posted this on other CR Sites and thought some here might like to join us.

If alarm bells could ring at the CR Way Longevity Center, you would have heard them a few weeks ago when I discovered that the bottled water my mother was drinking contained radioactive substances. Meanwhile, the bottled water Meredith and I were drinking had a level of sulfate that could lead to kidney stones.

The importance of pure water is emphasized when thyroid regulation is considered for serious long-term calorie restriction. Presumably many here have read Fontana's paper on T3 ( Effect of long-term calorie restriction with adequate protein and micronutrients on thyroid hormones.Clin Endocrinol Metab. 2006 Aug;91(8):3232-5.Fontana L, et al PMID:16720655),

so you aim for your T3 to be downregulated. But how do you judge that if your water contains competing halogens like bromine and fluorine?

The importance of finding water that's free of contaminants motivated us to find out more about the water people drink -- bottled, municipal, and well water. The more research we did, the more frightening was the information we discovered. Finding safe drinking water isn't easy, and the danger that contaminated water poses for health – especially for calorie restrictors who hope their thyroid is turning down their rate of cell proliferation – is significant.

We invite you to participate in a free teleconference about it that can be joined by everyone interested in discussing this subject. The date is this Wednesday evening, April 4 at 7:30 ET. Many people use Skype to call in to avoid phone charges from outside the U.S. (Skype.com to establish a free membership)

If you would like to join us, please send a note to Info@LivingTheCRWay.com and we will send you the call-in details.

Wishing you extraordinary health,
Paul & Meredith
