HI folks:

I have noticed a puzzling effect when trying piracetam (tried both sns and BYOB). While the effects are almost immediate in terms of improving my mood (1 hour or so) due to improved concentration, i have noted two items :
  • a pronounced deepness in my breath. I feel i have a pretty solid cardiovascular system, so when i breathe a little deeper i tend to notice it since it is only normal for me when exercising. I notice even in static state that my breath gets a little deeper; not gasping, but certainly slightly more arduous than off piracetam.
  • slight increase in irratability when things are not going quite "quick enough"
Now i have to say that the same breath issue has occurred when trying huperzine A as well as vincpotine independently, so perhaps people can speak to the activating factor (acetylcholine perhaps) that is causing this?
I have also been labeled (mistakenly in this person's opinion) of showing symptoms of bipolar 2 NOS (not otherwise specified) and found that i generally tend to feel less depressed when taking piracetam. I attribute this to indirect effect of having less "internal voice" dissuading me from moment to moment existence. It is as if my diffident side disappears. This is the same side that tends to trigger the paruresis (shy bladder) in restrooms; it tends to go into a quiescent, which i embrace.

However I caution that this never triggers any sort of mania or hypomania; I feel happier and cheery but i feel those are my natural personality anyway that has been obfuscated by this depression.I would love to hear thoughts from others who have negative self-talk or been recently diagnosed as either depressive or bipolar NOS to see what kind of reaction piracetam has had on them?

Feedback on both of these bullet points as well as depression welcomed! I really want to understand if potentially this is indirectly effecting my dopamergenic and seretonic system to improve mood, or if it is just concentration that has improved which causes me to feel more focused.

Hmm.. you should definitely check out the uridine stack for BPD. It has been very effective for a few people here. Has done well on clinical trials for it, as well. :)
