I was wondering if anyone here knows what in Saint John's Wort upregulates 5HT receptors. For example, would a hypericin-dominant extract compare to a hyperforin one? So far the best I could find is that supposedly NMDA antagonism upregulates some 5HT receptors and I believe I did read hypericin is an NMDA antagonist. ANyone have a better explanation?

Hmm it must be its nmda antagonism as memantine was reported to reverse mdma and psychedelics tolerance but its so complex so we cant tell for sure.

Its interesting stuff for those that suffer from atypical depression where 5HT2A hypoactivity is a problem, aniracetam and ginseng are agonists wich may synergize.
5HT2A upregulation and agonism shows alot of promise for OCD too.
