Hey there, been viewing this forum for a while but I've never taken part. I'm having a bit of a problem at the moment and well maybe for the past few months.

Basically tonight I had a panic attack, well i hope it was! My heart was pounding so fast and my left arm tingled, so I quickly took an aspirin and asked if my flat mate could take me to the hospital, I was that worried. I've had similar experiences before in the past few months, never had my heart pound so hard though, i've had feelings of extreme anxiousness and I've been worrying about my heart which lead to signs of GAD.

But I wonder if it was spurred on by tianeptine, I ordered some Tianeptine Sodium several months ago and started taking it and going to the gym and eating really healthy, I felt great. Then I ran out and spent a week feeling pretty depressed and out of it, perhaps I was taking too much, I eye balled each dose which was obviously stupid.

I've just been away for the weekend to amsterdam and drank quite a lot, I always feel a bit more anxious when i'm hung over but it's been two days since I've drank anything. I used to drink quite a lot regularly, but don't drink so much now maybe twice every two weeks, but normally a lot. So I wonder if alcohol is the culprit ?

I took tianeptine over the weekend, but not that much.. Today I've maybe taken 4 x 70 mg, which is obviously a lot over the recommended amount which in itself is stupid. But after stopping for a week I've never been able to get back that great feeling I had, so I've tried taking more.

So any way long story short, could Tianeptine give me panic attacks ? I've never had panic attacks prior to taking it this year, however I did use tianeptine branded stablon last year for a month and it worked great.

i honestly don't know but i have similar issues with fear about my heart failing and being too aware of sensations in my chest etc. I know the heart can be affected by a change in serotonin, some serotonin agonist/antagonists can cause heart failure for example. The heart just seems so fragile and its what keeps us alive, but the truth is its not fragile, its part of a robust system with several built in back up plans etc. When your heart rate starts to race or you feel certain sensations, try to relax because anything else is just contributing to the panic and increases your heart rate even more. It's the implication of what you think might be happening that sends the body into panic mode.

Thanks for the reply. I feel fine now.. Just doing some research on the internet, maybe something else is causing panic attacks as well as anxiety.

I was laying on my front watch tv and started to notice my heart getting faster, literally pounding... Drank some water, took an aspirin, deep breathing and counted my pulse which was 72 bpm which is normal. Then it all kind of faded, scary though, never felt like that before. Maybe my body is still recovering from a weekend with a lack of sleep and excess indulgences.

That is a clear cut panic disorder. This is likely Tiapiapine as it reduces the amount of serotonin. I'd stop taking the teniapine or at least reduce the dose a lot. Learning breathing and calming practices. If it persisits try Sertraline and then buspione on top.
