If patience, long term thinking and motivation remain an issue please post here, i may have some ideas after my personal experiences.

Motivation has certainly been my Achilles heel for... well, as long as I can remember. Amphetamine has been somewhat useful but tolerance grows, of course, plus it never helped my avoidance of unpleasant tasks.

I've always enjoyed your posts here and on m&m back in the day, so looking forward to hearing what you're up to here.

Have you ever concidered memantine for this development of tolerance if amphetamine initially works?

I've certainly thought about that. But thinking back to when I originally got prescribed stims, they really never helped with goal-oriented behavior that much anyways; just mainly made me feel great, but I was just as likely to get focused on doing something unimportant.

I find that the ADHD meds were effective to some degree sometimes but that they always came with more complications, i.e. amplifying anxiety, amplifying dysphoria from my depression etc.

I am not sure if memantine lowered my tolerance to ADHD meds. I believe it's possible that it's apparent boosting of stim effects was probably due to its D2 agonism. But who knows.

downregulation has made even high dose ineffective, but the absence makes me feel like...well, I don't feel anything. I wish I had never accepted medication, because even a distractable, inattentive state (with the joys and tragedies of life) is better than total anhedonia.
