I'm very interested in the combination of rapamycin, rifampicin and allantoin. In c elegans, it caused a 76% increase in maximum lifespan and actually doubled the median lifespan. The data indicated that the pathways affected by these three compounds are not narrowly overlapping. My instinct tells me this is a big deal
partly because it's an available intervention, and, doubling the lifespan of c elegans through changing a gene is a different thing than simply combining three compounds, two of which (rapamycin and rifampicin are already used to treat medical conditions. Any ideas?
